Picked up grains to begin the stout path starting with a basic 6.8%er. LHBS dudes kept this for me to sample. Not very good..

Researching next batch. Looking for a low alcohol Belgian pale ale. Lawnmower beer, Belgian style. Maybe a patersbier.

I’ve got a recipe cooked up for a “monks beer”. Very simple with Pilsner, sugar, styrian Goldings, and WLP-500 as that’s what I have. Should end up nice and dry around 4.5%.

To stay on topic, I’m drinking water at work.

Looking at a very similar recipe using tradition and saaz. No sugar. Recipe calls for WLP530, but that might be overkill. Maybe BE256 dry yeast.

Their prices in the Belgian section are pretty good too.

Yeah I was looking at them, nice selection but felt like I had spent enough already. Problem was I had already grabbed a bunch of beers and the wife loaded up on wine and we didn’t even get into the grocery section yet! Starting at the beer cafe first felt like a good idea.

I’ve had more than a few adjunct laden beers, but I can honestly say I’ve never had one that lives up to its name quite like this. This tastes just like the sandwiches my mom used to make me. Probably the one drawback I can see is the color is less than great. Sort of a hazy/murky light brown.

When does beer not become beer? Ha! I've done several PB Stouts but do you think the raspberry is extract or fruit? Might be willing to try a few bottles of PB&Js for fun..

Better this time than the first time I tried it...a bit one dimensional but I believe its all citra so what's not to like about that

Edit*- just looked...its citra and simcoe...the later being pretty lax in the beer

Another interesting low abv beer. I’ve never had a beer with red x malt or Idaho 7 hops. I am a fan for sure.

Both are pretty good...I've used red x once or twice...I did a red ipa with it.. very carmelly to me...but in a good way...and I7 is just a great damn hop...it has dank and fruity notes with slight hints of herbal tea...I'm still trying to use up the pound I bought of em...
