On recommendation of a friend, I picked up a Vittles Vault yesterday for my grain storage. Looks like a really great way to store grain in an air-tight, pest-free way.

When I returned home and opened it to pour in the grain, I noticed quite a powerful odor...assumably a by-product of the plastics manufacturing process.

If anyone has purchased one of these containers and has experienced said odor, do they know of a way to get rid of that odor or does it matter? Want to make sure it doesn't ruin the grain.

Thanks in advance.

When I purchased mine all I did was rinse, let dry thoroughly and put the grain in. No odors when I open it to do a batch.

lol, y'all washed 'em? I just dumped grain in and spun the lid down...

Mine smells like malty heaven when I spin 'er open...I have another coming, eventually
