Last night my brother called me to tell me that one of my sisters might have lung cancer. She has a golfball sized growth on one of her lungs and they operate on Monday morning. If it is benign, the surgery is over. If malignant, they go right back in and take out half the lung, and then starts the chemo, etc.
She's only 48 and never smoked a day in her life.
The thing is, she just had brain surgery about 3-4 years ago to remove a growth that turned out to be benign. She doesn't need this sh!t all over again.
Keep your collective fingers crossed for her. Thanks.

Your story hits very close to home as my sister had surgery to remove a cancer growth last week. I know there isn't anything I can say to make things better but know that my positive thoughts are directed towards your sister and her recovery. +++vibes.

Sorry to Hear that, It's never good. We are all thinking of you and your family.

I hope the best for your sister and family.

I just had surgery last week to remove a growth in my neck and it turned out to be benign, I hope it's the same for her.

My father has just been through this with a rare form of cancer that presented as a tumor on his hand. The cancer spread to his lymph nodes, but no further.

He is undergoing radiation therapy now and the extra growths that were found following his surgery and recovery have reduced in size considerably.

Your sister is in our prayers. Keep the faith.

Tony

Surgery was today. Went well, but no biopsy result till tomorrow for some reason. They took the entire lower lobe of the lung. She's got a long haul ahead.:(

I saw a lot of miracles as I watched my daughter pull through end stage Burkitts Leukemia. She was 11 and four times over that summer, we were told to prepare ourselves for the worst.

She 's 21 now and a Junior in college.

The power of prayer is a mighty powerful thing.

Hang in there Bernie.

Good News! Well relatively speaking, anyway. The pathology report finally came back, and it is not cancer!! It was a fungus ball. I'd never heard of such a thing before, but apparently they are more common in the Southern U.S. for some reason. They are also more prevalent among farmers, gardeners, etc. We are not sure where she got it from, perhaps when this particular fungus is identified, it will shed some light on the situation. Thank you all for your kind words, your kind thoughts, and your prayers.

So what is the prognosis? It is treatable I assume.....right?

Good news anyway!!!

Sorry Dude, I just saw your post today or I would've answered sooner. Well, the surgery itself is the treatment. Since it isn't cancer, removing it should do the trick. Problem is trying to figure out how she got it in the first place. We are assuming it is something in, or more likely, around her home. She's actually afraid to go back there. I personally believe that it is from the bird droppings around all her bird feeders, but time will tell. We have since had the place inspected for stuff like that, but are awaiting the results. Should be about 2 weeks.
