Well that's not a disincentive at all! I want everything in that pack! So should everyone!

It’s a disincentive in the sense that it costs a lot more to go back through the line if you want multiples of something in the pack just to sell. Last year just selling singles of “rare” bottles I’d whst made for such a shitshow. No doubt these will pop up very soon broken out of the pack, but I’ll be infested in seeing if it’s less noticeable than last year.

You should have that looked at.

What's the deal with Oude Kriek Toast? And is Oogst ("harvest" according to google) signifying anything specific?

Toast is kriek from a toasted barrel. Harvest is just the year the fruit was harvested. Like using récolte in French (as Jean has for some of the grape lambics).

If someone went back through the line and then shipped me the pack, I'd buy it. Yeah okay they can't make max profitz on reselling singles but that whole box is amazing.

Definitely. That is is amazing. But yeah, the whole elimination of max profits thing is nice.

I feel like you can recoup the cost of the box with just the A&G bottles so the rest is profit.

Maybe I don’t get it but if you were gonna come with 10 mules, how does this “package” deter you from leaving with 11 cases?

I would guess that the lower secondary market demand for A&G compared to the other bottles in the pack disincentivizes buying up the pack just to flip the bottles that would be in high demand, as the flipper would likely not make a large profit compared to their investment. Idk, that case looks amazing and I wish I could be at OBD this year to grab one :(

A friend of mine just bought singles of the limited beers. Why even bother with packs if they're gonna release singles to go anyway?

I don’t think they were the same as the pack. they have Kriekenlambik Toast and Frambozenlambik to go today at 1 per person

Ah yes, you're absolutely right. Frambozenlambik, kriekenlambik toast and schaerbeekse it seems.

The Frambozenlambik and Kriekenlambik toast were new on the menu today. The Oude Kriek + Schaarbeekse that was sold on both days is different from the Schaarbeekse that is included in the pack.

Attached are some photos to clarify between the two krieken as well as some background information.

The Schaarbeekse (blend 41 of season 16/17) was made using only Schaarbeekse krieken. Maceration lasted 365 days and resulted in a finished product with a fruit intensity of 45%.

The Oude kriek + Schaarbeekse (blend 18 of season 17/18) was macerated on oak barrels for six months. Final fruit intensity is 46%, of which 40% Schaarbeekse krieken.

And all of them, plus tilquin, already for sale on bbb.

In the grand scheme of things, Frambozenlambiek is...................not good.

(Link to media)

What frambozenlambiek did you have, the one available on tap or a bottled version? I’d like to know what you didn’t like about it since me, and especially the girlfriend, really liked the frambozenlambiek on tap this year and last. We didn’t open a bottle yet though.

We had the hand-pull version. Extremely cheesy (which sometimes can be a good thing), but loaded with sulphur. Almost like all rotten raspberries. Something else off that I couldn't identify. Hope the bottles are better. Glad you liked the draft version though...happy to know everybody's palate isn't the same. Would be boring otherwise.

Back when Cantillion sold the 50n/4e, vig and lam box/ticket online, my buddy scored one. We finally got a chance to get together so I supplied the other 7 things we drank. Each bottle was less than 3 years old and I had a pretty good idea of which I thought I would enjoy the most...boy was I wrong.

5 of us over the course of about 3 hours drank these from left to right. Almost unanimously, the plain old geuze and kriek were the favorites.

50n4e was super sulfuric but once degassed, had a pleasant vinous component.
Vig had a pretty awesome contrast of sweet and sour. Surprisingly, not that much more vinous than the 50n4e
Lam was probably my least favorite bottle. Smelled great, taste was too tannic.
CSG - I could not believe how hoppy that thing was for being bottled 2 years ago.
GCB was just an ok bottle, I assumed this woulda been my favorite based on every other time ive drank this, but just not the case this time.
Iris - great as always was in the top 5, hard to pick between whether I liked it or CSG more.
Fou was a 2017 bottle and very uninspiring. Ive had bottles 5+ years old with more fruit character.
Rose was good, probably wouldnt put it higher on my enjoyment level than say Vig

I ordered two of these a few years back. Cracked the first one tonight. From memory, this has a little more funk and what seems like quite a bit more body than regular CR. I have a regular CR of around the same vintage - I think I will try it at the same time as my last bottle of Special Blend to compare. A fantastic lambic - maybe second place for me in the gueuze category behind tilquin^2.
