Hey all. I was planning on brewing up a Belgian Pilsner soon but my LHBS doesn’t stock WhiteLabs yeast ( who makes a Belgian Pils specific strain) . Any suggestions for best yeast to use for a Belgian Pilsner?
I do have a few sachets of 34/70 on hand 🤷‍♂️

Thanks!

What are you aiming for? Belgium has multiple pilsners and they can be quite different. Jupiler has something very Belgian to it (caramel-malty, yeast profile), Stella is very dry and Cara-Pils is something we won't discuss. Neither is Maes.

Never had Jupiler believe it or not?
Maybe something along the lines of Bavik Super-Pils?
Definitely a Pilsner but has some “Belgian” Character to it?

WLP815 Belgian Lager is closely related to WLP920 Old Bavarian Lager which is probably similar to Wyeast 2247 European Lager and Omega OYL-115 German Lager III.

Or yeah, just use W-34/70 and be done with it. All of these are like splitting hairs anyway -- most lager yeasts are very closely related and to a large extent interchangeable.
