Adding body and sweetness to stout.....

I've heard that adding Caramel Malt 60L to a extract stout will will add body and sweetness. My local brew shop doesn't have 60L, but has 40L and 80L. Which one would work better? Thanx!

The CEO of Budweiser orders a Bud light. The CEO of Miller orders a Miller Lite. The CEO of Coors orders a Coors Light. The CEO of Guinness orders a Coke! ----------------------- The three CEOS then ask him, why aren't you ordering a Guinness? He replies: "If you guys aren't drinking...

Just curious, what temp do you guys bottle condition?

I've been conditioning at 68-70 but have been wondering if raising the temp to 72-74 would be better. Thanks for replies!

Any home brewing veterans or patriots out there?

I just bought a cool "Bottle Breacher" from a company owned by vets and yes, are American made. It appears all of their bottle openers are rated 5 stars. IIRC, they give part of the profits to needy vets. Anyways, here's the one I bought, but they have others to choose from...

    Bottling pipeline finally finished....

I now have 5 cases of 12 oz bottles (120 bottles). This includes one case in the frig most of the time. I brew 2 1/2 gallons per week and always have 4 cases bottle conditioning with date tags so I know which case goes in the frig next :mug: Btw, I'm brewing a batch right now as I type this...

Just curious if there's a recipe for it. It's been years since I've seen it in liquor stores. I use to love it back in the day.

    Ok, so now I'm suffering....

I just knew this 3 gallon batch of brown ale would be bad. I had too many bubbles of air get into the bottling wand and knew this would happen. Anyways, problem solved but in the mean time I don't want to dump a case of brown ale. Sympathy will be accepted as I dredge through another 20...

    Brita water...

I've been filtering my Florida tap water through a Brita pitcher since I started brewing last July. The 3 beer styles I brew taste great. Just curious if anybody else uses Brita water.

Ok guys, krausen for how long?

Last Saturday I brewed a Private Rye Brown Ale extract recipe from Northern Brewer. I pitched Safale us-05 yeast after wort dropped to 65 degrees. Krausen formed about 18 hours later along with a very active bubbler. Here it is Friday and there is still lots of krausen along with bubbles...

Am I the only one that bottles directly from carboy?

Since upgrading from one gallon batches to 3 gallon batches I've continued to bottle from carboy to bottles via auto siphon and a bottling wand. Plus, I use sugar cubes to prime each bottle. Anybody else? Seems most guys/gals transfer to bottling bucket. Thanks!

Ok guys, brewing my first 5 gallon extract batch...

The recipe says to boil 2.5 gallons of wort then add 3 gallons of cold water after boil. What happens if I just boil all 5 (or 6) gallons and cool down after boil? Thanks!
