Step 2!

I’ve often thought of ordering from them. Are the grains as good as everyone says? The shipping costs to the East Coast must be higher. I’m quite happy with Weyermann, Rahr, and even Briess, but keep wanting to try some of the smaller boutique maltsters for something a bit different from time to time.

My monster mill MM 3G arrived Saturday, when I originally ordered it, the plan was to use a. Electric drill and mill over the bucket, upon reflection, I decided to motorize it, so, I ordered a 250 watt 270 RPM variable speed gear motor, from Amazon, all arrived Saturday, I began building a milling station, which I will post in DIY forum when I finish

Amazon link por favor?

Cheers!
I'm not the most tech savvy old coot, I'm using my phone and don't know cut and paste, but, the motor , is of coarse made in china, the brand is YIYIIBY-US 250 watt, in the order box, make sure you hit the 5K button, that is the o -270 RPM, the 10K is only 0-135 RPM
The motor specs out at 8.0 NM that calculates to 70.8 inch lbs. Of torque.
The finish is good on it, itvus also reversible by changing the wires on the controller, when I wire it, I'll be using a 3 pole switch so I can reverse direction in

I might add, its $120, 1/3 the price of the motor (also made in china) offered by Monster

Yes, very flavorful malt, and the shipping from Oregon to NY is high, but this purchase was 30% off, even with shipping it was less costly than getting it from NB. I haven’t used all of their malts, but those that I have, have been rather good. I suppose if you can do a group order and share shipping costs even the full price would be okay.

I am switching from keg fermenting to an All Rounder - Santa is getting me the fermenter for Christmas.

I have had this in my cart for ages and finally caught it on sale at MoreBeer and pulled the trigger. Picked up the hop bong and SS ball lock posts, this setup will allow for easy o2-free dry hopping, fermenting under pressure, and closed transfers.

A couple of 6 qt food grade containers from Sam's Club. Planning on fitting them with air locks and spigots so I can do small batches without having to screw with siphons. They'll easily fit in my mini-fridge for temp control. About $10.00.

I own these. I dont' think you will get a good seal on them for fermenting. They sort of clip at two points, but not all the way around. I store grain in mine.

But if you want a complete seal. Lowes sells food grade two gallon buckets for $4.48 and the lid is $2.88. They completely seal, I have added a grommet and air lock and fermented pickles in them.

I'm guessing it's this puppy? I've got a pile of stuff and this is a missing part to a grain mill station

Yes sir, and it performs well, initially, I set the RPMs @ 200 ( no load) which is %60, she jammed I moved the gap to the ,factory setting of .045(from .040) and set the no.load setting to 220 RPMs ,@ 90%, it will start with a full hopper and be done in seconds...

Mine must be different than yours. They seal all the way around and don't leak when I put water in and turn them upside down. I got lucky, I guess.
I had in mind that they had a pair of nubs for locking on two sides but I looked at mine and that wasn't the case. I'm not sure it's the same lid design as the old ones. I used to work in restaurants and these were very commonly used. We did put liquids in them but they got pretty worn out with daily use. I can remember microwaving soups and getting a little steam and spillage. If you've tested them with water they may hold just fine under fermentation pressure. Maybe just test the sides when most active, spray some Starsan on them.

Received a small order from Brew Hardware. Some grains, bottle caps, Whirlfloc, and a neat tubing cleaning brush. The beech smoked and rye are for a Danish Skibsol I plan to try. I love those oddball beers, especially if they involve smoked grain.

I did make one goof when placing my order. I had intended to buy 10 lbs. of Barke Pilsner. I added it to the cart, bumped up the number of pounds, but forgot to hit the recalculate button. Doh! That'll teach me to order stuff after I've had a few.

Not a big deal as that brew is down the road some, and I'll no doubt be placing another order for supplies before then.

Edit: My wife saw that brush and said, "It frightens me a little that you have that. DIY colonoscopies?"

Three legged supports never wobble. As long as the support points (base of the legs) are well separated, this is a stable configuration.

Brew on :mug:
At least until you put it on those tiny 1½” roller wheels and you try to move the tank a few inches to the right but forgot to release one of the wheel brakes.

Make sure the lid clamps are down tight. It’ll minimize the cleanup, or so I’m told. 🙄

I don't think that's a function of the number of legs, however.
