I actually bought a pair of those and promptly murdered one unwrapping it over our granite counter top 🙁 Have a set of three arriving tomorrow...

Cheers!

Some 2024 hops arrived from YVH. Need some of these for a hazy that's going to need dry hopping soon...

[edit] A little while later the US Mail delivered these glasses. I now have a set of four of these, destined for my NH house...

Next sunny day I gotta shoot a family portrait of my nascent Boulevard Brewing stemware collection...

Cheers!

Another pair of rare Boulevard Brewing "Starburst" glasses arrived in pristine condition, completing a four glass set. Love these!

I have enough of their glasses now that they're dominating the kitchen glass cabinet to the point of overflow. I keep telling The Spousal Unit it's a high class problem to have, but she suggested I put a display cabinet next to the keezer.

Hmmm....She might have something there. Time to go shopping!

Cheers!

Do you have space above the keezer?

It's not really practical to mount something above a keezer (need to open it!) or behind (can't reach!). Plus, window.

But I actually have a great space for a shallow wall-mounted display case: to the right of the keezer is access to an under-stairs storage space. If I move the electric baseboard thermostat to the right under a pair of light switches, I can mount a decent size case there, be able to reach inside it, be able to open the keezer without hitting it, and not block access into the storage space.

I'm liking the idea enough that I've been pawing through Homegoods and Wayfair and Amazon, etc, for something that'll fit the bill, hit my fancy, and doesn't cost stupid money. I have a candidate that could get here by Tuesday if I decide by tonight...

Cheers!

Very impressive spot!

Could you open up that wall some to sink in a cabinet? Even if it's angled with the stairs it would look unique.

That would be trick, but there's a stair stringer and sheet rock attached to the same studs on the other side of that wall...

Cheers!
I was thinking remove the sheetrock on your keezer side, wall studs are 16" on center so build out an area for your glassware needs. No studs removed but if you have some woodworking skills, or know someone a cabinet could be built and you'd utilize the stud depth plus the depth of the new cabinet.

Or better yet buy something to hang in the wall.

Ah, a basic and normal assumption is null and void: the studs are on 12" centers  and are only 2x3s. I'd have to frame out a built-in to have enough depth to fit a glass.

I have cabinet-grade woodworking skills and a small shop to match, but I'm too busy right now to knock out a cabinet with a lot of glass and a mirrored back. I ordered a solution last night...

Cheers!

I thought you possessed wood working skills. I understand the time limitations.

2x3's at 12" O.C., interesting . . .

It's a mid-century modern post and beam construction, and many of the interior partition walls - none of which are load bearing - are 2x3 on 16" centers. Why this particular wall is on 12" is not obvious...

Cheers!

Yakima Valley Hops for my next three batches: 2 oz each of Willamette, Target, Kent Goldings, and El Dorado

A pair of uber rare Boulevard Brewing schooners arrived from the UK today, packaged well for the journey, each in its own "air sleeve" then stuffed in a well-fitted cardboard box.

schooners_8.jpg

Which makes this more maddening: one of them has a chip in the rim leaving a sharp divot. It's essentially trash now

schooners_3.jpg

It had to have been packed like that because there's no freakin' way it got chipped enroute. Which means the seller almost certainly knew it was damaged but shipped it anyway.

It's really a shame because these are really sweet looking glasses...

schooners_1.jpg

At least I got one good glass out of the deal.
It'll be interesting to see what the seller has to say when I lay some hard feedback on him...

Cheers!

Going over that chip with some crocus cloth will at least make it serviceable. Set it aside for an every day drinker. But yeah, see if they will send a replacement.

It's been forever since I read "crocus cloth" :) but it's probably worth trying.
I'll definitely ask, but I'm pretty sure the seller only had the pair, and I've never seen these for sale anywhere other than this ebay deal...

Cheers!

Aside from that disappointment, it was actually a decent day for me.

I started by relocating the thermostat for some electric baseboard heaters (that we have literally never used since we bought this house in 1988) that was where my glass cabinet was going to go.

display_case_09.jpg

The cabinet arrived a couple hours later and didn't take long to get it hung and filled with my Boulevard collection :)

display_case_9.jpg

Chock full of Boulevard goodness! Some of these are exquisitely rare now which makes me a bit sad as my "one of one" glasses may never be replaced.

display_case_11.jpg

It'll do 😁

Cheers!

[edit/ps] The locking latches are a bit much, I may do away with them and use a magnetic catch and add a small pull...

I could smooth that out with the Dremel tool. Wouldn't be pristine but it would be functional.

Can you help me out understanding why 4 tanks of gas are needed?

From right to left are an O2 cylinder, a beer gas tank, a CO2 cylinder, and another CO2 cylinder over on the left. The O2 is just parked, the beer gas is for the double imperial chocolate stout I've kept on tap continuously for around 16 years now, the CO2 cylinder with the dual primaries provides 11 and 15 psi feeds to the keezer, and the left CO2 tank is my portable for transfers, and also connects to my keg conditioning fridge.

Cheers!

Some hops for a Southern Hemisphere Hazy I'm planning:
  • 200g of Cryo Mosaic (2023)
  • 100g of Nectaton (2024!)
50g of cryo Amarillo (2023) for DH my West Coast DIPA this weekend.

Plus, abused the Malt Miller 3-for-2 on WHC Yeasts
  • 3 packs "Pineapple Passion"
  • 2 packs "Mango Madness"
  • 1 pack "Big Apple" cider yeast
Going to try a copitch of the first two in the hazy...

Received a little this and that myself today from Brewhardware: a couple ball lock QD fittings, some TC clamps, a couple Duotight keg disconnects plus a a small 1/4" goof plug and half coupling I needed to reconfigure my sight glass and t-probe on my BK. The new t-probe can go in the old sight glass hole but the new sight glass only uses 1/4" elbows. Taking out the thermostat which needs the plug.
