I keep a couple new lids in stock, never know when you need to replace the whole thing.View attachment 868114
I ruined 2 keg lids because the area around the PRV froze an split the threads. Now to need make sure I separate the bad ones out.
I’ve never had every keg filled so I grabbed one to switch out, and I have a couple with the valve drilled out to use with an airlock- kegmentor. I should probably make an entry in the Don’t do that thread, as well.I keep a couple new lids in stock, never know when you need to replace the whole thing.
Except there's no hops of German origin in your photo.... The only one that's close is US Tettnang, but that appears to have nothing to do with German Tettnang, it's derived from the Swiss "Tettnanger" from the USDA collection (USDA 61021) which is probably some kind of Fuggle derivative - it's got a different coloured bine to Tettnang and everything.Yesterday…
I’m going to try a few US grown varieties of German hops to see how they compare since the AA on the imported ones suck so bad right now.
I don't think I've ever seen US versions of German hops in Europe so I can't try that one but I've swapped out 50% of the bittering charge with Magnum, especially when late hops are required where I can get the target aromas.Yesterday…

I have around twenty kegs, all the real old Pepsi style that first came available, so I keep a good stock of replacement items including the lids.I’ve never had every keg filled so I grabbed one to switch out, and I have a couple with the valve drilled out to use with an airlock- kegmentor. I assume the calibration is at 20°C (based on the flask labeling.) Did they give you any info on temperature coefficient for volume variation? Do you have a calibrated scale to use with the flask?A 100ml pycnometer from Amazon. For measuring SG, and to calibrate my hydrometers. It came with a test certificate--actually 101.453ml. Do I really need it for home brewing? Not really. But I like gadgets, so this will be interesting to play with.

Probably cheaper than the jukebox I bought, not as cool looking though.A 100ml pycnometer from Amazon. For measuring SG, and to calibrate my hydrometers. Um...for science? That is one hella impressive chunk of copper artwork
Almost a shame to use it![]()
Yeah, mine doesn't at all like that anymore. That is one hella impressive chunk of copper artwork

These are for different pressures and you ordered two of the same or something?
Yes different pressure 15 and 10 for keg-menting under pressure. Well, 2 flat side means they won’t hold any pressure. These are for different pressures and you ordered two of the same or something?
The seal is made by the small "O" ring at the base of the stem, not the threaded part of the body. Should work just fine.Yes different pressure 15 and 10 for keg-menting under pressure. Well, 2 flat side means they won’t hold any pressure.

Thanks I didn’t think about that, and we’ll see if there is enough thread to hold it in place. The seal is made by the small "O" ring at the base of the stem, not the threaded part of the body. Should work just fine.

I'm guessing that it's designed so that the overpressure vents via the flats on the sides. Probably simplifies the design and makes it cheaper to produce. Thanks I didn’t think about that, and we’ll see if there is enough thread to hold it in place.
There is no such thing as too many fermentors.Caught a deal on two almost new SS Brewtech minibuckets, arrived yesterday.
Added a few SS brew buckets to my fermenter options recently. I really like them. Zen like simplicity and function.Caught a deal on two almost new SS Brewtech minibuckets, arrived yesterday.
Seems so, in particular these are half-batch size which makes them easily manageable. I am going to modify these by silver soldering a TC port on top. I'll be subbing in a small 6 gallon pot in my 3 vessel lineup as well for doing half batches. It'll be a lot easier to deal with as it subs for a keggle.Added a few SS brew buckets to my fermenter options recently. I really like them. Zen like simplicity and function.
1.5" or 3"?Seems so, in particular these are half-batch size which makes them easily manageable. I am going to modify these by silver soldering a TC port on top. 1.5" I've got the dimpling/pull through tool from Brewhardware. I could do 2" but most of my accessories are 1.5". I just want to be able to dry hop without O2 and to feed back a return line for gravity/CO2 transfer. Also need to put a blowoff tube on it, so just need to put a valve on first. Thermowell is going in the pre-existing hole. It's funny, I have one already and just wanted one more but I was thinking exactly what your wrote!1.5" or 3"?
