I've always liked Alan Parsons. A version of Sirius/Breakaway from the World Liberty Concert was the first song I ever put on my iPod and it one of the few songs that's still there all these years later.

I have a ton of Alan Parsons stories, for another time.

That's a great video and of course the amazing Candy Dulfer can blow my sax anytime. Breakaway is from the Try Anything Once album, one of my favorite cds to listen to with headphones.

I believe that was the same event that the Project played the elusive White Dawn instrumental. I think it's since been released as part of a box set though.

This might fall into the embarrassing category but I've always liked the theme song to the movie "Patton". Not sure why but it has stuck with me since seeing the movie back in 1970.



Which inevitably leads me down the rabbit hole to the music that was played in my house when I was a kid.

I was working in Paris and the only music I had was what came with the laptop I had. Back in the 90's, there was a synth version of In the Hall of the Mountain King that came bundled with Windows (3.1?). I listened to that song on repeat for 2 weeks while writing code. Tru story. Back then I smoked 4 packs a day, and between the smokey room and the frenetic song they probably thought I was nuts.

Your first link didn't work for me but Charlie Parker was another musician that died too young and outside of a small circle wasn't appreciated while he was alive.

Hints of Chopin in that one. It actually inspired a few minutes at the piano. Love to play in c-min and g-min.

To bring the theme to a close, for me, a top 20th Century Pianist from Argentina, playing my 2nd favorite Bach piece. As the piece moves beyond the prelude, which last for a few minutes, a theme develops which eventually takes the listener to higher spiritual relm. This piece becomes 4 part harmony that only the best pianist with amazing finger control can play correctly. Sit down, relax, grab a home brew and enjoy.....

Things like that are inspiring. It's not quite the same but a while back I started watching videos of those music talent shows from all over the world and not only do they show that there is an incredible amount of talent out there but also that music is one of the few universal things that are felt by people no matter where they are from.
