I've always liked Alan Parsons. A version of Sirius/Breakaway from the World Liberty Concert was the first song I ever put on my iPod and it one of the few songs that's still there all these years later.

I have a ton of Alan Parsons stories, for another time.

That's a great video and of course the amazing Candy Dulfer can blow my sax anytime. Breakaway is from the Try Anything Once album, one of my favorite cds to listen to with headphones.

I believe that was the same event that the Project played the elusive White Dawn instrumental. I think it's since been released as part of a box set though.

That whole concert is on youtube now. The sound quality is so much better than the mpegs I made from the VHS tape of the concert I recorded off the tv years ago.

This might fall into the embarrassing category but I've always liked the theme song to the movie "Patton". Not sure why but it has stuck with me since seeing the movie back in 1970.

Which inevitably leads me down the rabbit hole to the music that was played in my house when I was a kid.

I was working in Paris and the only music I had was what came with the laptop I had. Back in the 90's, there was a synth version of In the Hall of the Mountain King that came bundled with Windows (3.1?). I listened to that song on repeat for 2 weeks while writing code. Tru story. Back then I smoked 4 packs a day, and between the smokey room and the frenetic song they probably thought I was nuts.

This probably falls into the "embarrassing" category but, while the song might never make the Billboard charts, the method by which it was made is kind of cool.

Seen that before and totally in awe. Took me 6months to build a static kitchen, cant imagine the engineering time in that machine.

That brings back some memories. My daughter was 4 when the movie came out and I think we saw it three times in the theater And it came out on VHS just before her 5th birthday so we had to have that too.
True! My oldest boy, 1 loved it. Ariel was pretty hot so never minded watching.

To bring the theme to a close, for me, a top 20th Century Pianist from Argentina, playing my 2nd favorite Bach piece. As the piece moves beyond the prelude, which last for a few minutes, a theme develops which eventually takes the listener to higher spiritual relm. This piece becomes 4 part harmony that only the best pianist with amazing finger control can play correctly. Sit down, relax, grab a home brew and enjoy.....

This is awesome if no one has heard of this. Some special people out there in the world...

Things like that are inspiring. It's not quite the same but a while back I started watching videos of those music talent shows from all over the world and not only do they show that there is an incredible amount of talent out there but also that music is one of the few universal things that are felt by people no matter where they are from.
