Earlier this week bailey mountain brewer posted a photo of the BLT that Launched a Thousand Ships. That picture got my wheels turning in a big way. As soon as I escaped work today I bee lined to the grocery store, raced home, poured a pint, and set to work on the task that overshadowed my entire week.

While not as beautiful as bailey mountain brewer's, it sure hit the spot. I served it with my ordinary bitter.

Itch scratched!

You're welcome... looks delicious btw.

Today’s wind-down is a delicious Warsteiner Pilsener, noting the Northern German “Pilsener” spelling variation! It’s a great beer for sure, night up there with Paulaner, Ayinger, Trumer and Rothaus in my humble opinion.

Warsteiner has been a part of the beer scene since 1753, and is brewed… where else…. In Warstein, Germany! Warsteiner Pilsener is a 4.8% ABV brew, has moderate head and a bit of lacing. It gets high marks in flavor – you really begin to appreciate Pilsners and the attention to detail with brews like this. Anyone who has brewed Pilsner Lagers knows that attention to detail produces great results…. Not a beer to be rushed. I prefer to lager mine for 90 days, these really improve with a bit of lagering time!

Warsteiner is also 1516 Beer Purity Law Reinheitsgebot compliant, just a terrific brew…. And check out the clarity! Even George would be impressed! Prost!

@camonick 's Red Ale is definitely in the top reds that I've had

Same and thanks for the reminder, I meant to ask him for the recipe. Willing to share @camonick ?

Although I think I'll brew dunk first for a nice fall beer.
Thank you fellas… I love to hear positive feedback for my beers. Other than following the instructions correctly, I can’t take credit for that recipe. It’s from MoreBeer and I just renamed it.

I use Nottingham instead of their recommended yeast and a custom water profile.

@Bramling Cross the key to a good blt is proper bacon, get it from a local butcher. Or homemade of course. And the bread.. your bread choice looked on point. Anyhow moving on, tonight we have hb helles with a pineapple shrimp dish, a little heat a little sweet, on cauliflower instead of rice.

Good news: closed on our house in Daphne, AL!
Bad news: now we have two houses!
Good news: got an asking price offer on our Trussville house within 24 hours of listing (did I not ask enough?🤔)!
We are blessed.
OT - something a little stronger than beer after loading, hauling and unloading a bunch of stuff movers won't take. Nothing fancy but definitely enjoyable especially after not having even a beer yesterday (too tired to lift it)!

Time to visit Lamberts in Foley!! YUM!

I had the great opportunity to drink one of these Scrimshaw “Pilsner-Style” brews from North Coast Brewing last March. I did so during my world-wide search of great drinking Pilsners and had a ton of comparison brews.

I guess you could add this as an addendum to my previous thoughts on Scrimshaw. I just love it when we have West Coast brewers making essentially German-style brew using all the usual suspects – Munich Malt and continental hops – Hallertauer and Tettnang looking at the website. Scrimshaw is a 4.5% ABV brew.

Well, for starters this is a great tasting brew, but a Pilsner? Most Pilsners I’ve had use pretty much 100% Pilsner Malt or Pilsner with 10% Munich. According to the website, Scrimshaw is produced with Munich malt, and at the 22% IBU, it tastes to me well into the 16-22 IBU Helles range, and not the 22-40 IBU Pilsner range. With the characteristic maltiness provided by the Munich and the 22 IBU, Scrimshaw tastes solidly in the Helles category to me, not the Pilsner. Orangey color seems more Helles-range, a lot of the Pilsners are indeed lighter in color.

So we have a tasty German-like beer here, the only suggestion I have is it be re-categorized as a Helles, which it certainly tastes like to me. Pilsner is a stretch…. Prost!
