dumping the first dry hop of my fidens inspires brew, with a mix of 2023/2024 YVH Citra. It smelled amazing, more so than normal. Second dry hop will be 2023 Nelson and 2024 galaxy. I am hoping the second dry hop doesn’t ruin the batch
Also using wyeast 1272 at a 0.5 pitch rate. 1272 is amazing when I tasted pre-dry hop. Creamier and ester profile is much more in line with what I like. It actually reminded me of old school Haze from tree house crossed with fidens

7.5 gal batch, 6.25 gallons into ferm
1.077 OG
33 IBU
4.8 SRM
Mash
12 gal DI water, 7.25 gal mash, 4.75 sparge.
10g CaCl, 2 g NaCl, 2 g CaSO4
6g lactic 88%
5 lb flaked oats
4 lb white wheat
15 lb rahr 2 row
Boil
2 lb pilsen DME
0.5 oz simcoe, servomyces, Whirlfloc at 15
2 drops fermcap
Whirlpool:
5 oz simcoe, 16 ml Citra incognito at 170 F 30 min
Ferm:
Oxygen for 1.5 min
1.25 dropper ALDC
Pitch wyeast 1272 at 0.5 rate 68 F
Allow to rise to 70 on day 2
Walk up 1 deg F per day until 73 F
Day 7: passed forced DA test, crash to 48 F, drop yeast every 6 hours
Day 8: drop yeast, allow to warm to 65 F. Dry hop 1:
4 oz 2024 YVH Citra,
4 oz 2023 YVH Citra
2 oz 2023 YVH Citra lupomax
Leave on dry hops for 24 hours at 65 F, no rousing then dump
Then add dry hop 2:
4 oz 2023 YVH nelson
4 oz 2024 YVH galaxy
Dry hop 24 hours, no rousing, drop and cold crash to 38 F
Continue dropping hops over next 48 hours at 38 F, then package
