Heads up on a possible deal:

A (non-craft-drinking) buddy and I went to Mother's Peninsula Grill in Severna Park/Arnold for the NCAA Championship game tonight. He had 4 Corona bottles for the "special" price of $3.50 each. I started with a bottle of Troegs Perpetual (7.5%) and then had 3 bottles of Flying Dog Double Dog Double Pale Ale (11.5%); all four bottles were $5 each. Since Mondays are Service Industry Night and they offer 50% off for that, our total bill was $21.47.

Long story short, if you don't have to work early on Tuesdays and you enjoy craft beer, it appears to be to your advantage to hang out here on Monday nights for half off the all-encompassing craft price of $5 each.

I searched "jailbreak" and found nothing for this, so here you go. New brewery in Laurel, officially opening late April but they're filling growlers and sending beer out to bars now.

I stopped in on Saturday and like what I see.

Saw these guys had some beer ('Welcome to Scoville' - Ipa with jalapenos and cilantro) on tap at Perfect Pour when I stopped in yesterday. Didn't bother to try a sample but wanted to let folks know that their beers are apparently pouring at certain locations now.

It will be much, much better. Based on Ken's one line description, I shall call it Hill Farmstead II and the theme will be producing fantastic beer that is sought after far and wide, while maintaining the highest level of pretentiousness.

You can check out Parts & Labor also. It has 24 taps and a growler station. I haven't been to it since it has opened but I did attend the Mash Bash Homebrew Competition there (in collaboration with Nepenthe). It is a great space, just like all of the other restaurants in the Woodberry Kitchen collection.

"Parts & Labor's beer program, led by Jayce Flickinger, will feature a unique system of 24 taps, all held at multiple serving temperatures and poured in glassware appropriate to each beer's style. The beer menu will mirror the kitchen's sourcing, lead and focus, showcasing Maryland breweries as much as possible."

Corey Polyoka, Woodberry’s beverage and bar manager, told us their beer offerings will take the same philosophy as their food and focus on local suds; specifically featuring beers from newly legal Class 8MFarmstead Breweries around the state.

DC Brau closed for remodeling several weeks ago. I think any cans would be at least 7 weeks old, so I would not recommend sending any.

Thanks for the info, Pat. I knew their tasting room closed during remodeling but didn't know the whole place was closed. I was hoping to find a few fresh cans that made it out to a store somewhere.

The closest store to BWI that I've found to have a great selection is Cindy's in Elkridge. They don't have quite as big of a selection as Perfect Pour, but they're literally half the distance from the airport (6mi vs. 12mi) as PP. If you're looking for a beer you had one time in another country and you only know what the bottle looks like, odds are the guy at Perfect Pour will know what you're talking about and they'll have it. Cindy's won't carry all those random beers, but they'll have the bases covered when it comes to good craft beer distributed in MD, including special releases.

The abosolute closest store to BWI to get craft beer is probably Christo's in Ferndale, about 1.5 miles away. However, I can't speak to the quality of their selection; I haven't been there in years.

The closest bar is actually in the airport. There is a DuClaw Brewing company bar located outside of security between terminals A and B (Southwest). If your flight gets in on time and you have the whole evening, your other option is to get on the light rail at the airport and take it into Baltimore. Pratt Street Alehouse is 1/2 block from the Pratt Street station and Alewife is about 2 blocks from the Baltimore Street/Royal Farms Arena station.
