So I got a pack of hops from morebeer. It was German variety pack. I brewed a Altbeir today and used 2oz of the mandarina bavaria at 15 minutes. At the time I didn't give it much thought, but now I wondering if it will be Altbeir. Anyone have any experience with this hop?
 
Tough one. I used it the other week in combination with Lemondrop as I thought they would compliment each other due to the citrus/fruit profile...if Mandarina does live up to its description not so sure your Altbier is going to be what you may be expecting from a traditional tasting standpoint but I do bet it will still be fantastic...perhaps outside of the official style guideline but should be great. Let us know how it turns out, now I am curious and think you may be on to something.
 
I've used it quite a bit in low oxygen pils.

I find it has a pretty solid but smooth bitterness. The flavor and aroma to me comes off as more noble, but with a touch of lemon, almost cascade like. I don't get any orange or any other citrus. I like it but i'm gonna burn the rest of it in an IPA.

More noble sounds good to me lol.
 
I used 100% MB in a blonde ale and its definitely citrus/floral and noble-ish. Not really any mandarin orange flavor. It's basically just a suped-up cascade.
 
I agree with the descriptors from the others. It's faint citrussy ( when used in higher amounts ), with floral, grassy traits. Definitely good in ambers, reds, bitters, wheat/hefe, blonde ale. Last time I used it together with Hallertau Mittelfruh in an all Vienna Kolsch style beer, that turned out fantastic.
