You rang....?
So I recently heard from a somewhat infrequent trading buddy of mine that he had sent an A&T that had some slight leakage issues. From my vague understanding everything looked ok but there was a minor amount that had leaked during shipping.

I just sent a bottle of A&T out, along with A&G, and keeping this in mind I was sure to put both of them in zip lock bags. I was honestly more worried about the A&G since I've heard how highly carbed they are but bagged the A&T more as a precaution. Unfortunately I just learned that the A&T had leaked a small amount. My trading partner said he hasn't removed the foil but the cage is still intact. He also said it was pretty minor, the fluid is still above the foil level but the entire bottle was wet.

We're trying to figure out a way to resolve this. I could send him another but I would hate to have it happen again. Has anyone else experienced this with a bottle you sent or received? Any ideas on whether you think the beer is still ok or would most likely be off? Any helpful insight would be much appreciated. This f'in blows!

I did, happen to open that bottle big daddy?

I received an A&T during the summer a few years ago and it had leaked a little in transit similar to what you described. I let the sender know but that person didn't offer anything to "make it right". I decided to immediately stick the A&T in the fridge and then drank it a few weeks later. It was one of the best beers I ever had so I never bothered to push for anything from the sender. All that to say the A&T will likely still taste really damn good even if it got hot in transit.

I have insider information about someone who may know more on this. Paging ridglens

Got a mildly leaky one in the mail a couple weeks ago.

Cork looked fine and pressurized, cage fine, packed well. Just moist and stanky

Trading partner was cool as hell about a leaky bottle I sent him earlier and hooked me up nasty with my personal whale, so I decided the best course of action was to remove the foil to dry and give no more *****. It's chilling in the basement and will be drunk next weekend.

I guess Be cautious when mailing 3fs, especially when it's hot out. Also, be ******* cool about leaky bottles: if you sent one, your job to make it right... But be reasonable if you received one too, this is just a stupid but fun hobby afterall, be chill honey bunny

Please remember to post back with the results, I'm about 99.9% sure you've had one before? I know time may have changed the profile but I'm curious to hear your thoughts and even more specifically if there were any "off" flavors. I will heckle the **** out of you if you don't.

For the record, I'm taking total responsibility. Fortunately, I have another (shut up TNGabe ) I offered to send when the weather cools down if that's the route he wants to take. That's also part of the reason I asked if anyone else has had issues, I'd hate for this to be a developing trend not related to heat and I send a second bottle that leaks.

Honestly I've never had one before... But I'll let you know how this one goes, heckle away if I forget haha

Going to be up against tough competition, Friday night is "turn of the century gueuze" night
Well be sure your pallete isnt too ****** by the time you open it. I want clear, concise and honest input not some drunken' ********. Just remember Nathan, this isn't all about me. The entire TB and lambic universe will be eagerly awaiting the leaky A&T bottle results. So far we're 1 for 1, don't be the guy to **** it up ;)

had two A&G (one 375ml, one 750ml) land here in chicago after a week's trip from overseas – no leaking on either. really hot here lately, too. luck of the FIB.

One bottle of CR in the car for the next week. Current temp 110deg

Man, things must be slow in the Caroliiiiiina's... :)

Worst case scenario, that thing blows up through your baggy on your car seat. Best case scenario after that, you can start a belgian yeast culture by taking scrapings from your seat for years to come.

what gueuze? what price?

but probably yes.

Cantillon, about $200 (about the same price as buying the same volume in 75cl bottles).

One argument in favour is that I could do some fruited experiments in some demijohns with a gallon of it, but it'd be cheaper to use bag in box lambic.

I'll be in Luxembourg around Christmas. I'll help drink it, no worries.

When's this being tapped and what accompaniments are you serving? Cologne to lux isn't that far;)

Might be biased because I can find neither to buy, but I would buy kegs of cantillon for $200 as often as possible :)
