I get that. I guess I'm trying to understand/gain insight from a blender's perspective, what set the OGV batch apart from normal OG. I don't know if there's any way to really do that though. Getting a few different bottling dates surrounding an OGV date is all I can think of. Still would be fun.

Im not saying it isnt possible that they sit down and say, **** mang, this is awesome and needs to be OGV instead of OG. But it was my understanding that OGV has been or were bottlings that didnt cut the snuff within the normal bottle conditioning timeframe of X months. Meaning, the carbonation might not have developed as expected or the character of the blend "just wasnt there yet." So they hold on to it for X amount more time and then at some point it passes their critetia of passable but it just took longer to get there.

I had bottles of OGV that tasted like unfermented wort (2006) and another year that had some phenolic weirdness. To say OGV is different is a given but my experiences with it have been more drastic than drinking plain old OG. Ive tasted lots of OG bottle variation but never as wildly an outlier as my OGV experiences.

Edit: I havent had a 2010 or 2012 OGV yet but I swear I read somewhere that folks were complaining that acetone was present in one of them. I cant say ive experienced that in any OG that is that young.

Seems a thin line then between vintage and doesjel, though I wouldn't expect a lot of people to agree with that statement.

Suppose I just need try it and see for myself.

If this deflates the hype of OGV, I would be ecstatic. Some of the best 3F I have had.

Dont get me wrong, I had stellar bottles of OGV too. But ive had plain jane OG bottles knock my tits off too.

Kinda, except isnt Doesjel knowingly released still with no expectation of carbonation forming (even though some have?)

Its just my experiences im chiming in with chief. Im no lambic patriot so ill step aside now and return to my acceptably inconsistent Fantome fanboy thread where I belong. ;)

So I noticed some trade lists for magnum bottles of Cantillon Grand Cru popping up.

I can't find any info here or lambic.info, does anyone have a scoop on this? I'm guessing they are brewery only? Price/limits?

Cheers!

€25 a pop, 1 bottle limit. Very limited it seems.

On an unrelated note, I tried the lambic mimosa thing yesterday. Not with cantillon because wtf but with regular Boon as it's only about a euro per bottle. Could see myself drinking more of that this summer, not bad at all.

Saw there were 18 bottles of 750ml OG on Etre this morning. Figured I'd fill out my open order with a couple bottles.

1 hour later, it would appear that one of you jerk offs did a "Make It Yourself" volume pack before I could buy some.

Nice. Real nice.

That might have been me talking about the 2010. It seemed to recede as it had a chance to breathe. The funk was off the scale though.

didn't get any acetone in either but I thought 2010 was really underwhelming. Think I preferred regular OG from the same year. 2012 was bangarang right out of the gate. That one's gonna be incredible in a few years I'd think.

There's 24 more back up. That's the one thing they at least can keep in stock.
You can't hear me but I'm knocking on wood right now.

So I guess the modus operandi here is to pay immediately for any Cantillon in your cart and worry about filling out your box later? I had a bunch in my cart but went back to add some stuff and by the time I checked out all my krieks were gone. :( Very happy to get a Rose though, so thanks for the heads up. Cheers!

Generally, yes. Because it doesn't cost you anything extra to reserve the bottle (other than the price of the bottle, if purchasing anything over 25 euros). That **** went quick though. Saw a hundo of a bunch of the bottles, then came back from a run, and GONE.

Seriously? Boon goes for about a euro? So freaking jealous!
