When someone makes the choice to order goods from foreign countries they are presumptuous to think that if there are problems they won't have to make an overseas contact either by phone or other paid service. Stamps cost $. internet costs $. maybe belgium should pay for those too? If you don't like it then take your business elsewhere. It is more akin to ordering bulk t-shirts from Guatemala, and when you receive the wrong shirts, thinking you shouldn't have to call Guatemala to make things right.

You can make an international phone call for a few bucks, that is, if you aren't smart enough to find a free way to do it. Thinking you shouldn't have to do your part to make any business transaction successful screams of ******** entitlement.

I mean also, Kurt runs at least the customer service side of things by himself. It means slow response time by email, but it also means personalized service and a "business" that is as much a person as a company. Sometimes I have to send a few emails to get a response, but other times Kurt emails me without being prompted to offer me things or ask questions about an order etc. And more importantly hiring someone else for customer service would presumably translate into higher prices--which would cost you more than the pennies a Skype call or other internet phone service would (although in fact there are ways to do this for free that are just as secure as a phone call). Things like the 3F bulk deals would not be possible at those prices from a place with high overhead. It is what it is.

How is doing anything other than paying just "doing your part?" If I pay for goods I expect the company to deliver. End of story. How is that entitled?? These types of stories are what keeps me away from biab.

Also the option to get free storage at a warehouse with no time limit absolutely free while you build a custom order is a pretty sweet deal, is it not? This is not a service offered by most online businesses and if you do t want the service, place full orders and pay for shipping as you go and you'll receive prompt service with no issues. It's a pain for them to have to pull a couple bottles out at a time and keep them all organized and manually create items for you today for shipping at your convenience--and also means they sell less of the always available bottles since everyone can just wait to fill a box with special stuff--and they charge you nothing for it. I really don't think it's too much to ask that you have to make a simple two minute phone call to arrange shipping as the cost of getting this service. I mean how many other business do you know of where you can expect to send an email to the owner to get any service you want without having to pick up the phone ever?

why should my part of a "business transaction" at an online retail shop entail more than "clicky clicky clicky pay" then wait? that's the whole business model.

And BiaB offers this service. It's only if you want more from them--managing your order over time in the warehouse and shipping later on when you choose--that you have to put minimal extra effort into getting your box shipped. It's more than a fair trade off and one that's entirely optional anyway. Nobody has issues when they order a full box and pay shipping upfront--those orders are shipped within days of payment.

Because people feel the need to white knight everything with some inane justification.

The entitlement part come in when there is trouble with the order. People are slow. People **** up. This should be expected. Potentially having to make a phone call to fix a problem should be expected. Thinking everything should get fixed without any effective effort put out on your behalf is entitlement.

The fact that we are having a conversation pertaining someone bitching about how they shouldn't have to make a $2 phone call screams entitlement. Dude needs to suck it the **** up, make the stupid call, and move on with his life... not bitch about how 'he shouldn't have to do this' on the Internet. Or better yet, just quit buying online lambic because his experience was so horrible.

The only inane justification here is you canceling your order...

OMG BiaB is so terrible! I didn't get exactly what I want and now they expect me to make a phone call? It's been 2 whole weeks! A PHONE CALL! HOW DARE THEY! That may cost an entire dollar! I want my $ back...

Ok, you must be right. I just want to white knight for a store I have never bought anything from. It has nothing to do with you acting like a entitled fool.

Soooo this is a thing:

I don't think you know what the term entitled means. He IS ENTITLED to his order. He ******* paid for it! Why is it ok for a website, with a broadcasted Email address, to not respond when a paying customer asks a simple request? (Hey, can you send those bottles that I paid for?). I understand that followup can be necessary at times, but for someone to bitch that an online company didn't respond to online communication, is kinda warranted.

He is entitled to his beer. Did I miss where the store told him they weren't sending it? He is not entitled to a specific form of communication such as an email. Or did I miss that guarantee somewhere too? Was there another guarantee where it said they would ship the day you ordered... Or even within 2 weeks? I don't think it unreasonable for a online company whose website was down to take a few weeks to get stuff moving. Especially since the whole 'reserving beer' started and there is a lot of extra work involved. Whatevz doe. This has gummed up enough pages. We obviously differ in opinion.

Srs/toxic topic thread time? ;)

Anyone open a Lambikstoemper recently? Curious to hear I how that beer is doing. I believe it's been in the bottle about 18 months at this point.

I appreciate all of the replies and feedback. I figured I'd answer my own question and just opened a bottle. It's doing quite well. I find it to be a nice improvement over 6 months ago. There is a nice lemon/green apple flavor coming on which I really like. It's still pretty funky and very effervescent as well. I'd imagine another year will do this beer very well.

I got a lot of ethyl acetate off it. No one else seemed to. It was fine, but definitely not worth the cost of entry for me.
