Oh. Out of stock. Rats.

Man I hate when distributors do that. Vinum handles the Shelton distribution in WA and I am hoping they are pretty fair about spreading bottles around the entire state, instead of just loading up Seattle (where I live), even if I don't manage to get one.
Yup. Cavalier blows. For a while they were just stock piling Cantillion at one store. And between the distributors and the store guys, they would just buy it from the back whenever they felt like it. Never made the shelves. So now, I think they just cut the lot into smaller amounts, take like 6 bottles to different shops and then buy up half of that at each spot. **** is getting out of ******* hand. I HATE BEER!

Welp, this is why we can't have nice things. Because NW Ohio got it, but our Cavalier distributors are so cool that they made sure they got the bulk of the cut. Which leaves most everyone else high and dry. Looks like my local shop got 1 bottle to go towards a tasting. I hope these asses show up at the Hampton tonight.
Yeah, I've heard the the rep for Cavalier is a one for you, one for me sort.

So, for those of you who have had a box refused by LAX customs, how did you solve the situation? Just ship to an east coast proxy who then forwards the box to you? It seems like thats what I am going to have to do, but I am wondering if theres an easier solution that doesnt involve paying to ship a 50lb box twice.

Also, does anyone know what customs reasoning is for rejecting the box? Is it because USPS is the carrier on the US side and they refuse to ship alcohol? Or a matter of the alcohol not being properly declared? If its the latter, it seems like it should be an easy fix to declare it and pay the tax. I can't imagine its actually illegal to ship alcohol into the country, but I am not admittedly very versed in the laws. I am going to make some calls and do some research and see what I can find out.

Both USPS being the carrier as alcohol is illegal to ship via them and because it's not properly declared. I think you have some misconceptions about how customs works. Definitely recommend doing some research. Most of your questions are covered at length in this thread anyway I'm sure. If you use the sidebar to search this thread, I'm sure you'll find them.

I had a box sent from Brussels via Post NL to my folk's place in PA and it made it in four days. I've never seen anything go that fast.

Man, that's nice. I've been waiting on one sent last Tuesday. It still hasn't said that it has arrived in the US yet. Does PostNL update on time?

You guys ever have issues getting in touch with Kurt on BiB? Been emailing him for a month now for a quote to ship a few orders with no response  I want my lambic!!

I have no idea, by the time I got around to actually checking post NL my dad called me and said I had received a box from Belgium

Yeah, he's not always good about replies. I've sort of given up on making 'ship-later' orders from him after going through this a couple times.

From what someone posted before, they just simply call him and he always answers the phone and is a lot easier to deal with in that regard.

Same. Will not be doing "hold for later" ordering ever again. FWIW he is saying on their FB page that the BiaB server crashed after the recent newsletter and recovering their systems after that has put them behind. Still...

Anyone open a Lambikstoemper recently? Curious to hear I how that beer is doing. I believe it's been in the bottle about 18 months at this point.

I opened one on Friday night and was blown away. Very nice mineral character, zippy mouthfeel without being overly effervescent, lemon pith, hay, perfect. One of the best bottles I opened this year. Glad I have another coming and definitely ISO more.
