This was a 2012 and way funkier that the the 2013 we opened, which was citrusy and tropical.
 
Also the option to get free storage at a warehouse with no time limit absolutely free while you build a custom order is a pretty sweet deal, is it not? This is not a service offered by most online businesses and if you do t want the service, place full orders and pay for shipping as you go and you'll receive prompt service with no issues. It's a pain for them to have to pull a couple bottles out at a time and keep them all organized and manually create items for you today for shipping at your convenience--and also means they sell less of the always available bottles since everyone can just wait to fill a box with special stuff--and they charge you nothing for it. I really don't think it's too much to ask that you have to make a simple two minute phone call to arrange shipping as the cost of getting this service. I mean how many other business do you know of where you can expect to send an email to the owner to get any service you want without having to pick up the phone ever?

The entitlement part come in when there is trouble with the order. People are slow. People **** up. This should be expected. Potentially having to make a phone call to fix a problem should be expected. Thinking everything should get fixed without any effective effort put out on your behalf is entitlement.

The fact that we are having a conversation pertaining someone bitching about how they shouldn't have to make a $2 phone call screams entitlement. Dude needs to suck it the **** up, make the stupid call, and move on with his life... not bitch about how 'he shouldn't have to do this' on the Internet. Or better yet, just quit buying online lambic because his experience was so horrible. :rolleyes:

I don't think you know what the term entitled means. He IS ENTITLED to his order. He ******* paid for it! Why is it ok for a website, with a broadcasted Email address, to not respond when a paying customer asks a simple request? (Hey, can you send those bottles that I paid for?). I understand that followup can be necessary at times, but for someone to bitch that an online company didn't respond to online communication, is kinda warranted.


Been lurking and wanted to chime in. One of the important factors that hasn't been addressed, is that you are dealing with someone from a different culture. Not everyone in the world has the expectation that every email/call needs instantaneous reply, like some here in North America. I've worked with a few different companies, in countries other than the US, within the automotive manufacturing segment. Many are laid back to the point of ZFG-status. It's just the way they are. For instance, our company had a partner company in Mexico. On my first visit, we all had a good laugh when they admitted that they answer "Yes" to any question phrased as, "Can you get X task done by X time?". Reason being, if they answer "No", it just creates more questions and scrutiny and they could care less about "you outsiders". They know what they have to do to get the job done, and they'll let you know when its done.

Another thing that should not need to be said, email sucks for communication, especially when bridging different languages. A phone call can make a world of difference. Typed words can be interpreted in many ways, and could possibly be received as threatening. I've sent many emails out that were "matter of fact" and "to the point", with no malice intended, but some interpret me as being hostile and aggressive. A phone call or meeting in person usually clears it up.

We're not talking about taking a day or two to reply. We're talking about weeks, or months, of "can you ship my beer?" "yes, I'll send you a shipping quote tomorrow"... a week passes ... "hey, did you have a chance to do that?" "Sorry, tomorrow" ... repeat.

These websites operate entirely in English. Almost everyone in Belgium is fluent in English. "Please ship me my beer" is not a complicated sentence and is, moreover, core to their business operation.

The contrast between Etre and BiaB on this is where it's really telling. Whenever it's time to ship from Etre, they are prompt at replying to emails and making additions / adjustments to boxes. But BiaB is like pulling teeth.

That really impressive St. Lamvinus of 2001 was unfortunately very rare and hard to get. About one pallet’s worth, 140 cases, were produced. We received only ten cases here in the U.S. We would have kept them all for our own purposes, but were besieged with requests from knowledgeable lambic lovers, and agreed finally to part with eight cases, six bottles per case. If you were lucky enough to get one of those odd bottles, you know how good it was. If you bought one and laid it down, and are waiting for a very special occasion to drink it, you may not be doing yourself a favor. St. Lamvinus will probably hold up longer than other Cantillon fruit beers, but it is not meant to go more than two years. After a time, the lambic beer begins to get the upper hand, and the acidic lambic flavors will overwhelm the more delicate winey flavors. That’s the theory, anyway. We have one bottle left (we had to drink the rest), and will soon open it to see how it has fared. We’ll let you know.
 
I got a bottle of De Cam Oude Lambiek in a recent etre order. Bottling date is Feb 2001 but crossed out in pen. Any way to find out what the real bottling date is?

I've got a bunch as well, the census says it's the newest batch, not sure on what vintage to call it though.

With De Cam ordered from Europe just assume it was bottled like 6 months ago. So it's probably late 2014.
 
any Idea what a 750ml 2005 cantillon kriek would trade for in fresh cantillon? other than gueuze

I genuinely have no idea, but that won't keep me from posting. I'd imagine Fou Foune +. Maybe 50N if you added?

I thought I had read somewhere that there's a bunch of over-carbed 13/14 Tilquin sitting around unreleased (and perhaps it will get turned into more ^2).
 
Unless another batch goes sideways, I would assume it's just a one time thing. Though who knows, Tilquin has been experimenting quite a bit

Alen notes in that thread that he inquired about the bottle and the seller responded:: "On the cork was written: Debelder Beersel. Debelder is the name of the brewer from 3 Fonteinen and Beersel is the name of the village."

If anyone feels like contacting traPISSED for more info, he notes on page 3 of that thread: "If it helps anyone out I can vouch for the authenticity of the beer and for the source where it came from. I have had 4 or 5 bottles from the same cellar all at 30 years and older."

A 1990 vintage has been on the De Heeren menu for a while, I know some members of this site have had it. Yeah, we went through all of that stuff too. But still, it's all anecdotal and we've said as much on the site. We'll look to get legitimate confirmation this summer.
