Well, unless I'm wildly mistaken everything 3F does besides the Armand'4's is with other brewers' lambics. Tilquin isn't making their own lambic (yet) either. I believe, but am nowhere near 100%, that that's it.

If you read the descriptions of Blauw and Rose Armand actually described the ages and provenances of the lambics in it, which is atypical for this.

Armand will start putting his own lambic back in the blends soon. I tasted the new lambic recently. Should be good.
I don't believe Pierre has any plans to start brewing.

How would one go about blending their own lambics like this? That is actually really awesome and wouldn't mind messing around a little. It do I literally need a few oak barrels filled with lambic to do this?

Just get a hold of some lambic, blend to taste, and bottle. Of course there are many nuances in between, but it is simple. No need for a barrel, just a vessel to blend into.
I don't foresee much luck with the only 2 bag in boxes available for shipping to the US though. Both Beersel (mineral 1 or 2 year depending on what Gert fills that day) and Girardin (vanilla and bitter) are beautiful but need more to make a good blend. Timmermans also does bag in box but haven't seen those for export. Your best bet is to find a way to have bags filled at De Troch, Boon, and Cantillon on top of those. Lindemans doesn't fill for hobby blenders (except a few) because of its ownership. I find it nearly crucial for a good blend though. Perfect middle ground.

Hmm, I asked him a while ago and he said he does intend to start brewing. Maybe things have changed.

Golden Blend is basically unavailable now, right? I really should have bought some of that when it was collecting dust for a few months on shelves.

[located in Chicago, btw]

For some reason, Cantillon and 3F are priced here in Australia about the same as they are in the states. Conversely a 6 pack of basic IPA/Pale will cost $20+.

Golden Blend is $24-32 here.Cantillon 750s are usually under $30 too. And yeah, Golden Blend is still on some shelves

Australia obviously has no idea what the **** they're doing.

high taxes for brewers. SN Pale, or Sixpoint Resin, can get shipped out here within a month of brewing in refrigerated containers and still outdo a local brewery pricewise

But it means the Loons don't seem so bad. Nor does massive orders from BiaB. It evens out to be about the same as local shelf turds if I'm getting big bottles.

In retrospect if you would have just said gimme some money to go play in Belgium and I'll send you a bottle of Geuze that I blend; I probably would have done it.

Was in Belgium last week and picked up a 2006 3F Doesjel. Trying to learn a little more about it.

How often has it been bottled?

What is its relative value to other lambics? I know its not a whale, but would it trade with standard Cantillons or is it more sought after?

I think it is just what 3F bottles their "sleeper"(slow fermenting) Lambic under.
I've never traded it/trade for it though.

I've never seen much trading interest in Doesjel. It made it to the US in pretty large quantities, was around a while, and was available on the Belgian sites until recently. It's comparable to Golden Blend, but in general people like it less.

I'd trade for it. It's quite tasty if you're into potentially flat, old lamics. See here for bottling dates.

Also, has anyone cracked a 2013 Hommage yet? I have 1 bottle and am trying to figure out when to drink it. I tend to like my fruit and funk to be pretty balanced.

Question about the Lou pepe lambics from Cantillon. Would 2010 be the year it was bottled? Or the year it was brewed and put in barrels?

Thanks
