That's fantastic, Jayjay.
Man, I'll be sorry to see you go when you get the job and become all professional.

Best of Luck!!It went really well! Both the head brewer and his assistant started out in homebrewing, so they were really receptive. I was anxious about being able to recall so many details since I haven't brewed in a while, but luckily once we started talking it all came back pretty easily. At one point they introduced me to another employee, referring to me as "huge into homebrewing" which felt really good to hear. We talked a lot about process, base malts, intricacies of recipe design, water building, etc. He mentioned that they use Brewer's Friend to build their water and calculate pH adjustments, which started a pretty granular discussion on chemistry. They were also intrigued that I started out in all-grain brewing, and have been creating my own recipes since the beginning. I'll bring along some of my beer to the next meeting, they were definitely interested in my Rhinestone Carboy stout.
Great guys, and the assistant brewer will be moving on soon to take over as head brewer at another local brewery, so there will be an opening. I hope I came across as knowledgeable enough that I wouldn't take long to train. I know the pay will be quite different from my past career, but I'm hoping to continue consulting on the side to help make up the difference.
Second interview is on FridayBest of Luck!!
Good deal, sounds real promising!Second interview is on Friday![]()
Thank you, friend.Good deal, sounds real promising!
Hope all is well late night gang. For your late nite soundtrack, something lite (!). This guy died young, dragged down into a river and drowned.
Check out this remarkable image collection of the same women over 45 yrs. Wow. If you don't think its coming for you, think again.

Good evening late niters. Hope all is well. FL survived another storm. That's all I got for news.
For your late nite soundtrack...
So you rotate infinity 90 degrees and get 8? Rotating a non-vector is a thing? Or, that's the joke?View attachment 863171
It really did make me chuckle more than it should have.
But I spent years doing golf ball dimple design using 3D matrix rotation math, so a simple rotation matrix multiplication joke is funny.
To me.
You gotta at least _like_ the Pet Shop Boys. Good luck with the rest!My second interview went extremely well, we really got down into the details. Yes, I'm mechanically inclined. No, I don't like the pet shop boys. In fact, we like the same music and movies; and yes, I will happily hoist 150lb kegs all day long. He said I'm the only compelling candidate without prior experience, and I'm hoping with all my might that they take a chance on me. I should hear back early this week.

Oh lawd! Reason #953 why I belong in the northern states! When I was a kid they told us to stay away from the Spanish Moss because it was full of chiggers. Not sure if that was true or not....

Maybe. Maybe not.Whatever is next for you, I'm sure you'll rock at it.

Edit: I'll never leave this place willingly. I was perm banned at one point but thankfully @Yooper resurrected me. I know full well which side my bread is buttered on. HBT has been my home for a long while, and I'm looking forward to getting back to contributing to brewing topics real soon. I can't say enough about how much this community has meant to me, or how much it's given me. Smooches.
In a lot of cases I'd say, yeah, you probably don't want to move to MA, but from Chicago? that could be an upgrade. Not keen on the idea of moving to MA, but it's a good company to work for and I have a lot to offer them.
Yooper is like a less awkward Al from Home Improvement. Al was the brains behind the operation and did all the actual work on Tool Time, & "we all loveAlYooper".
