I didn't get the assistant brewer position. They went with someone with brewery experience, of course. I'd have made the same choice, it's a small brewery with only the two brewers, not really room on board for a trainee. Ah well.

In other news, my freelance consulting work is picking up; I just landed a new client, a relationship I've been cultivating since April. Designing in a category I'm passionate about. Also got my first callback on a LinkedIn application, just 12 hors after submitting my stuff they reached out to set up an intro call. Not keen on the idea of moving to MA, but it's a good company to work for and I have a lot to offer them.

Still feel bummed about missing a shot at becoming a real brewer. Bucket list for sure.

Bummer you didn't get the AB position, but maybe they know of another brewery in the area that is looking as well? Or maybe if they give you the opportunity to beer tend a couple hours a week, you can get your foot in the door at least and prove your worth if that is the path you really want to go down? Food..or drink for thought.

Whatever is next for you, I'm sure you'll rock at it.
Maybe. Maybe not.

People are purpose-built. They might not know the purpose in the beginning, but if they listen to those around them, and the ACCEPT THE LESSONS LIFE HAS SHOWN THEM, they will understand their place. I say it this way, because often people think they are one thing, but they are not. It takes disinterested opinions from some source to show them.

Anyway, hope is going well with you all. JJ, I do wish you well. Man, I'm a fan of yours. always. Buck up, when there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by.

Oh yeah, I'll def have to blow this pop stand :)

Edit: I'll never leave this place willingly. I was perm banned at one point but thankfully @Yooper resurrected me. I know full well which side my bread is buttered on. HBT has been my home for a long while, and I'm looking forward to getting back to contributing to brewing topics real soon. I can't say enough about how much this community has meant to me, or how much it's given me. Smooches.

Umm, yeah, this for me too. I am not on here as much since then, but @Yooper definitely had my back when I was a bit tipsy and opinionated.

And you guys (n gals) rock.

YouTube has failed me. I was hoping to find a mashup of all the times Tim was talking to Tool Time fans who told him they love Al, and he would always respond "we all love Al". Couldn't find it.

I did find one of my favorite Christmas time clips from that show.

"Who's Leon?". Dang, I loved that show.

I don't have a burning desire to watch that movie, but I would like to see it.

Unfortunately it isn't on Netflix, and I don't think it's included in the cost of Prime.

It's an HBO thing now, MAX by other names, so if you have Hulu, you need Hulu Max to get Casablanca; same with Prime.

I know I have it on VHS, I just have to find my VCR player in the basement somewhere. I think it's in the stack with the Ronco Steam Away and the Flo Bee...

Don't even try. It will just eat the tape.

I recommend having the digital copy of every great movie on your home network. Then use Plex and AppleTV 4k boxes on your TVs. (there are high-def releases of these old films).

I have read a lot of good things about Plex, and a friend of mine has a boatload of "perfectly legal"

films. They've offered to let me have access to it, but I'm just not that big of a movie buff, nor am I a megafan of Neil Breen, who he loves

But it's a good idea. I should probably set up to a Plex.

I have so much not legal I can't even tell you. It's just incredible how much not legal. I don't give one care. I'm a horrible person, I know. Music coming...

fwiw, we have a modest library of movies and tv shows going back to the early days of available digitized AV (eg: CD/DVD/BD), most of which are legit ;) along with transcoded video tapes of our kids from well before digital originals, and roughly 300 GB of MP3s. Before I put the NAS together I used Plex, but my Synology NAS has a file server behind its VPN end point, so I can pull all our videos from it (and music and pretty much everything else) from anywhere with interweb access...

Cheers!

Every new year, I tell myself I'll be a better person. For the record, I'm not a good person, somewhere between awful and ignorable. But I do aspire to be better. And I perennially am sorry for what I did in the past. For all my faults, I'm really truly apologetic - if I wronged or offended anyone here, you can take that to the bank.

Going it alone has been terrifying and rewarding this past year. I've certainly learned a ton about who I am and what I bring to the table, even if I'm mostly dining alone. It took a full year, but finally the empty suits who bought my previous employer have come to appreciate my contribution. And so now, after losing the majority of my retirement in worthless profit shares, after digging deep into the 401K I'd neglected just to pay bills, and after their reneging on a retention contract worth a year's salary, they've reached out and asked me to come back in as a contractor. I'm trying so hard to swallow my pride, but these emm-effers are going to have to square up. I won't be exploited again.
