I finally got the nerve to enter my first competition my belgian blonde which is only pilsner malt sugar and wlp 570. I love belgian beer drink it all the time and I thought I nailed it this time. So I decided to enter it in a local non BJCP contest in a belgian/saison category judged by three judges who All but one gave it good coments
First judge crystal clean but no head retention, nice belgian yeast character well done finish dry
Second good head retention (huh) taste pear and apple acedaldehide (huh) aroma Diacetyl
Third taste estery, body light with high carbination finish has some bready flavors
All but first gave me good scores. I am a little disappointed but I really dont think the judges understand the style, by the way the beer that one the category was a hepavison how does a german wheat beer win a belgian category
