So I finally had a '14 BCBCS that reminded me how good it can be. I wasn't getting the hype of this years till the pour at Monks tonight. So much better than the bottle I opened this past Saturday and the pours I had at FOBAB.
Missed out on Vanilla though. **** kicked in 15 minutes. :(

CCBE makes me feel A LOT better about myself.

As funny as that group is, I now remember why I left the the first time. A post about a line cutter at Beer Temple gets 250+ replies. Fedoradingus asking about the Walgreen's fiasco got close to 100. Other posts about where to find Bourbon County turn into 50+ response shitshows about lines and who got there the quickest, complete with pictures of receipts. Jesus Christ. The fact that people behave like this is embarrassing.

Every time I go to a public craft beer "event" of any sort, I kind of wonder how I ended up in the hobby. For every normal person there are 5+ walking stereotypes.

Odd that a distributor that's been around for 2 months and has only had a website for a month gets Shelton and carries beers only available at West Lakeview isn't it?

Ohhhh, I get it.... my head is stupid.

the new wave is insufferable.

I was surprised when fedora dingus (i think I coined that phrase on BA but im full of myself) was going off on his rant about ****** behavior that no one called him out for being just as bad if not worse. but ya, things have gotten weird.

Wait, what? Where? When?

I'm really happy I discovered my niche and group of friends a long time ago in the beer scene, because the new wave is insufferable. Like they actually find empowerment in being complete ******* knobs.

This is a great post.

Throw in a "**** CCBE and their Mods that think they are helping craft beer or that the industry likes them" and "I cannot believe some of those guys don't have 4-5 maxed out credit cards and aren't face down in ditches with pants full of stout poop" for good measure.

Oh and is it confirmed that GI flipped the blend on BCBW this year? It sure the hell tastes more like a regular BW than last years.

I also heard from the guys at the tasting at 10:00 am that this year was 2/3 fresh barrels to 1/3 used barrels blend. Although these guys do get progressively hammered as the tastings go on so anything you hear after the early afternoon is likely to be taken with a grain of salt.

Damn it! I missed being in the niche of friends :(

You should have been at the 6pm tasting if you thought they were hammered at 10am

In their defense they were sober at 10:00 am, but bauermj can attest they weren't the strongest public speakers. Having said that the guy from Clybourn (whose name I'm forgetting) and Tim did give a bunch of good information to us in the Q&A portions, but If you were sitting in the back I'm not sure how you're experience would've been.

I'll pay for it again next year.

Same (re: next year). Gladly shell out $75 for an included bottle and the ability to try everything without having to knee people in the crotch all morning.

The girl at the 6pm session was very comfortable speaking. It was a lot better than last year. Also meeting Tony412 was kinda cool. How did you like that cherry? Lol

I heart you too. Even if I am second tier suburban tasting group.

Wait, what? Where? When?
On that insufferable facebook group he was all up in arms about the gross behavior at Walgreens. Funny because I think it was you and me that stood right behind him and "his family" at LP last year.

I've been curious about this for awhile also. How do the general masses afford expensive releases like BCBS? I like to think I have an ok job that allows me to splurge from time to time and even I second guess purchases now. Are people honestly just saying to hell with savings I need as much beer as possible? Or just maxing out their credit with no way of feasibly paying it off anytime soon.
