^^ jeff, they are buying it to dick swing on intstagram and then selling it on craigslist/beer resale sites for a profit

and as long as idiots will pay $75+ for a bottle of bcbs variants on there, they will keep doing it

GI the type of homie to brew a beer to thank its local market and then not allocate any of it to a whole bunch of great stores that support them throughout the year.

I've been curious about this for awhile also. How do the general masses afford expensive releases like BCBS? I like to think I have an ok job that allows me to splurge from time to time and even I second guess purchases now. Are people honestly just saying to hell with savings I need as much beer as possible? Or just maxing out their credit with no way of feasibly paying it off anytime soon.

i spend (what the average person would consider) a lot of money on beer. of course, i'm running on software engineer money. i know people that almost definitely spend more on beer than me but likely make less but also have a fancier apartment, newer car, etc. it's not exactly germane to ask people if they're in debt or anything, so there's no real way to know how they're doing besides random clues.

tl;dr: anyone who goes into debt over beer has some kind of problem.

Lolsavings. Beer nerds know nothing of savings.

I posted this in the wrong forum cause I'm a *******.

Because Chicagoland doesn't have enough special brewery releases, here's another...additional details on the Penrose Wild ale release can be found here: http://penrosebrewing.com/perspective/detail/the-wilds-are-coming

which of my fibby friends are driving out there/who am i riding with

This....I am actually interested in. Is it weird that I really want that screen print?
not at all I want it as well

regarding finances, I echo the not caring what anyone else makes or spends, but seriously WTF does the fedora guy do? Is he an investment banker? is he in charge of my 401K? I mean his weekly pictures I'm sure are equal to a bunch of folks weekly salary.

I got an extra of that screen print from their GBH release party. If you dont get one and want one, let me know.

I could give two ***** how money people make and what percentage of that they choose to spend on beer.

God bless America.
I've met people who travel across the globe for concerts. Lots of money out there just burning a hole.. A case of overpriced beer is nothing.

The guy clearly has more money than brains. Who the **** buys three bottles of Soroboruo? Has to be just trying to max everything to get into Hoarders.

Awesome..from what I remember Wild V and VII were both at FOBAB, and V was great! Did anyone else catch the other awesome releases in early part of 2015. I have a feeling I am going to spending alot of my time at Penrose in the future.

It's been posted on BA already so it's not like it won't be a shitshow, but for anyone still hankering for BCS (or, oddly, Class of '88 bottles), see below. Some are saying beer release is at 5pm - others are saying 5pm is when they start tapping kegs. Who knows?!

Whole Foods Lincoln Park (ie. North and Kingsbury)
The full 2014 Goose Island Beer Co. Bourbon County Stout series will be available for sale beginning at 8:00am, when the store opens. We will also have Madame Rose, Lolita, and Class of '88 bottles for sale.

Per Person Limits*:
4 12oz bottles of 2014 Bourbon County Stout
+ 2 12oz bottles of Bourbon County Barleywine
+ 2 12oz bottles of Bourbon County Coffee
+ 1 22oz bottle of Bourbon County Vanilla Rye OR Proprietor's BCS (coconut)
*No exceptions or substitutions.

We will no longer have any previous years' vintages. We apologize for the change.

People will get in line at 4 AM just to be safe.

^^ per Whole Foods beer manager, bottle release is 8 am and keg tappings are 5. i will be there at 5, no need to wait over night for bottles

This sentence was my point. Beer is a great fun hobby at it's core. Finances of others aren't my business, but the fact that people are more than likely incurring debt because of buying beer is just Sad.

"Investment" Banking industry...specifically Beer Futures

My first experience with the guy was at the Cthulhu release. Him and his wife(?) just jumped in line in front us for their 2nd round of bottles and he couldn't help but brag about it to the people around him and mention how much they'll be worth.

So odds are that I'm SOL ... but having just gotten back in town from Thanksgiving travels and striking out at my usual haunts for some regular BCBS (and actually having a few employees snicker when I ask them about it--hey fuckers, I know it was released last week but last year it sat around and maybe I was going to buy something else from you too), would anyone have any tips for places to check for a single 4-pack in the city? I'd be willing to pay over MSRP to keep my vertical going, but would rather trade than support terrible stores.

tony's on fullerton/central park may be getting a shipment of regular today if facebook is to be believed. when i stopped in there on monday night, no one had any idea what the beer was or if/when it was coming (i mean, i don't expect expert-level knowledge or anything but i'm kind of surprised this wasn't communicated down the chain), but other tony's have received allotments already so...yeah.

There's also apparently a number of guys on the fb groups "trying to help people out" by selling 4pks "at cost, $28" because they bought too many cases. Thank god for all these Robin Hoods of Beer around Chicago.

Why is it so hard to just leave beer on the shelves/floor?

Why does it matter to you if they are selling it at roughly cost? Honestly, I almost find that a convenience that if I needed to grab some that I could pick up a 4 pack from someone locally.. instead of chasing store to store.

People buy it because they found it. It's an impulse purchase. You've never had an impulse to buy something you really didn't need?
