Hello,
I am new to brewing and new to the forum, I tend to read more than post. My question is I ordered grain from my lhbs to make a batch of caribou slobber, the recipe calls for pale chocolate malt but they only carry chocolate malt the lady at the store acted as the were pretty much interchangible. Also she did not carry crystal 80 instead she subbed 90. How much is this going to effect the out come of the beer. I can't correct it because the grain has been milled together. So either way I have to roll with it.
Thanks

It'll be fine. The slightly darker chocolate malt will add a bit more roastiness, but nothing to worry about.

Fawcett Pale Chocolate: SRM 180-250° L

Simpsons Chocolate Malt: SRM 375-450°L
Briess Chocolate Malt: SRM 350°L

I'm not saying it won't taste fantastic anyway; I love me some Moose Drool!

It's fine. Brew it up man!

Thanks for the replies. Don't know a lot about the individual grains at this point so I have been sticking to the recipes as closes as possible. I wasnt sure if it would effect it much. Thanks again
