    Cal Ale 001

Made a starter last night, 2 pints water/ cup of LDME. There is a tiny krausen, the weakest I've seen in my starters and it looks like the yeast dropped out rather quick. Is this typical for Cal Ale? Never used it before.

    Shaken up White Labs vile

Had a vile of WLP 300 sitting out for a few hours so I can make a starter. (starter is 2 pints and 1 cup of light DME) when I was done cooling the wort, the vile was at room temp and I shook it up to loosen up the yeast stuck on the bottom and sides of the vile. I slowly opened the cap ( knowing...

    when to get your OG

Is the OG based on the 2.5g of Wort, or the Wort mixed with top off water before pitching? So e.g. the recipe says 1.084 OG, is that the Wort mixed with the 2.5 to 3 g of water or before? A lot of posters including myself have been coming up with a lower than targeted OG for some reason, but my...

    force carbonate

I siphoned carboy to keg and am leaving the keg in the fridge for 24 hrs. I did not put any cO2 in the keg. So tomorrow I will hook up the cO2 when force carbing. Is this correct? Is it fine just locking the lid after filling it and putting it in the fridge? Also, once it is carbed, can I take...

    Brewers Best Whitbier

Th instructions are pretty vague, don't know when I'm supposed to put the flaked wheat and flaked oats in. Do they go in the muslin bag with the crushed 2 row pale malt? And the spice pack, do I just dump it in the Wort, or bag it.
