    Help with the Summer Recipe

I just brewed a pale and used the zest of 2 lemons and a lime with my 15 minute hop addition. I sampled it today for the first time and while the flavor was there, it was a not as much as I would have hoped. I'd love to hear how it worked out adding them at flameout.

    Best music to brew to?

When I brew I typically have a bunch of random music. Everything from punk (NOFX, The Decendents, The Deviates, etc.), to rock (Breaking Benjamin, Bullet for my Valentine, Three Days Grace, etc.), to some classic rock (CCR and Tom Petty mostly). I'm even the weird dude who will shamelessly...

    Am I the only one?

I love how the tastes seem to change every time you try a new sample. I just made a porter, and when I put it into the primary it was very dull tasting beer. A week later and it was very bitter. Another couple of days and it was almost sickly sweet. Finally yesterday when I bottled I tried...

    Brew beer solely for cooking?

I think that would be a very intriguing idea. Perhaps an oaked brown ale in a two gallon batch is in order...

What Beer Was Your Point of No Return?

My first non-BMC beer was actually a Sam Adams Boston Lager, but it wasn't until a friend gave me a Sam Adams Octoberfest that I really jumped on to the craft beer bandwagon.

Why do you homebrew...general thoughts on the process.

I started brewing about 2 months ago, and was turned on to the hobby by a friend at work who had brewed for a long time. I origninally wanted to do it because I loved good craft beer and really needed a hobby to spend some time on. Now that I've made a few great beers, I really enjoy the...

How do I prepare Bakers Chocolate?

I'm making a porter recipe that calls for 8 oz. of Bakers Chocolate, but I'm unsure of the best way to use it in the beer. The recipe says to just add it for the whole boil, but do I want to just throw in the eight 1oz squares, or do I want to chop them up really finely then add them in, or do...

JRems, we brewing this tomorrow, or else I would definitely take you up on the offer. I really appreciate it though. If I come across a new recipe that I need it in before I can get some myself though, I will be sending you a message! It's really nice to be a part of community that is so...

Wanted spruce essence, but got spruce beer extract. Is there a difference?

Here is a link to a picture of what I got from the shop. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D6DRFU/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 This stuff is in a two ounce bottle, but it is very dark, not milky. On the bottle itself it says it is Spruce Beer Soda Pop Base. The more I smell it, the more I like...

Wanted spruce essence, but got spruce beer extract. Is there a difference?

Hey guys, I am making my first porter, and found a recipe I like that called for a bit of spruce essence to add to the boil. I went down to my LHBS with my list of everything I needed and didn't realize until I got home that they gave me spruce beer concentrated extract instead of spruce...
