Little can be said over a forum like this. For the most part we only "know" each other via some posts. But that still lets one get a feel for the regulars, are they guy/gals you would want to spend a day with, drink a beer with, or forum is enough. You are definitely a spend some time and drink a beer with guy. I wish you Gods peace during this time. May you and your family feels Gods hand.

First, let me sincerely and deeply thank all who have chimed in with support, prayers, voodoo and...most of all, genuine love. And I know that prayer support is coming from around the world. My daughters and I definitely appreciate it.

Today was a good day in the grand scheme of things. Marie had an abdominal gastric tube surgically inserted, replacing the nasal gastric tube. No skilled care facility will accept patients with a nasal gastric tube. When we left the hospital today, she was sleeping soundly.

And I appreciate the encouraging words of talking TO her, holding her hand, and expressing our thoughts and love. From what I've seen, she does have some understanding, and is probably scared ****less! Our youngest daughter...the Ph.D...spoke eloquently to Mom yesterday about what happened, and what we plan to do...all spoken in love and concern.

Sunday is our 46th wedding anniversary. I know I will cry quite a bit, but we'll find some way to celebrate, too.

We will be thinking about you on Sunday, especially.

My words are woefully inadequate, but Im keeping you both in my thoughts. So sorry this is happening to all of you.

This is breaking my heart. I will pray for you and you family. May you find the strength and support you need to make it through the this difficult time. Home brewers and a strange breed, but loyal none the less.

Sending love and positive thoughts to you and your family. Will be thinking of you and your wife this Sunday, and will be sure to raise a glass to you both.

Marie continues to rest comfortably. She is tolerating the new abdominal feeding tube extremely well, and was very responsive this morning.

Since her vitals are good, she will probably be released from the hospital tomorrow. Our youngest daughter [the Ph.D kid] and I visited two care facilities, and agreed on our selection. At the facility, she will be in an isolation room, since she still has a digestive infection. However...with a key fob, I will have 24/7 access for visits!!!

I have literally been overwhelmed by the concern this entire board has shown. Please continue to send good thought, prayers, voodoo, sacrificed chicken parts or whatever! Your support gives me the strength to do what I have to do.

Prayers from our family to yours. Be strong and keep your faith. God will make the right choice but may not be the easiest one......

Can I get "thumbs up" for today???

Marie was released from the hospital! All of her vitals/numbers are right spot-on! She was more alert today, and even strung together an entire sentence: "What are you all crabbing about???" When Amanda and I left, we both noticed that Marie seemed scared. So, Amanda ate an early dinner and returned to the hospital to keep Mommy company while she waited for the transfer ambulance.

She is now at Hearthstone Manor, 920 North Seminary Avenue, Woodstock, IL 60098. I do not have her room number yet. Hearthstone will give me a key fob which will permit me to enter and visit her 24/7!!! So, if I want to hold her hand at 200am in the morning, I can!

And I will need to go quite close to the Woodstock Square, where our favorite St. Arbuck's is located. Thus, I'll be able to pick up a coffee and go to visit my dear wife!

Not only is she off coumadin, the blood thinner, but she has also been off insulin! The nutrition provided through the gastric tube is formulated especially for diabetes patients, so she has not needed any insulin! They will continue the anti-rejection meds, as well as Topral to try to control the a-fib as best as they can without coumadin.

All in all, a very positive day. Can I get "thumbs up" for today???

Marie had a restful day today, although she was evaluated by two physical therapists and one speech therapist. The staff at Hearthstone Manor are wonderful! Kind, loving and compassionate like the staff at the hospital! Marie managed to get her right leg from knee down OUT of the bed twice today. The first time, she moved her foot around for quite some time, and then even managed to get her leg BACK into bed. The second time, she needed Amanda to help her get it back up. She spoke more words today. She is still being treated for C-diff [Google it!!!], but her white blood cell count is back where is should be, so the antibiotic is working. We still have to "garb-up" before entering her room, but soon that infection should be gone.

Joy flies back later today; Amanda flies back to College Station, TX tomorrow. But next week, I will be alone. Lift not only Marie in your prayers, but me, as well. The Lord is giving me strength from your ardent prayers to Him. And I appreciate the strength I get from those of you who do not pray. We'll all get through this!

I'm still thinking of you both, and lifting you up in prayer often.

Stay positive, and be hopeful and take one day at a time.

Thanks for keeping us updated!

Last night was a "THUMBS DOWN." Got a phone call at 930pm from the male night nurse that he could NOT give Marie her dose of Cellcept [kidney anti-rejection drug] because, according to the manufacturer, it was too caustic. Well, he just didn't know the protocol for administering a normally oral drug directly into the stomach! She got it this morning from the day nurse!!!

Today was another "THUMBS UP" DAY!!! She was alert numerous times, and even gave Jim Christle, Liesl's fiance, the "stink eye!" And the physical therapist and his helper had Marie sitting up at the side of the bed...certainly, with assistance! They are trying to have her lay toward her left side, so she is forced to look in that direction. At this time, she cannot move her left side.

Daughter Joy is here, and visited today along with Liesl, Jim and Amanda. Amanda is currently flying back to College Station, TX. Joy will be leaving on Monday.

And tomorrow is our FORTY-SIXTH Wedding Anniversary!

glenn514:)

Happy Wedding Anniversary to you and the wife Glenn. I wish circumstances were better.

Sending a prayer now.
Will kill a chicken and maybe a toad later to make sure all bases are covered for her improvement.
