Hey guys!!
I have a question.
My brain is not remembering right, right now.
what is the easiest sugar(s) for yeast to eat??
what is the hardest (more complex) sugar yeast can eat?
Thanks!

hmmm.. well by my understanding what you are asking, the higher the temperature you mash at the less the yeast will consume and the more sweetness will come through. Like over 155 f there is a chart but I'm too lazy to find it now.

As far as sugar goes dextrose and sucrose (table sugar) are 46 ppg same amount. Agave syrup is less at 34, and Honey is 35.

For the most part, yeast have the easiest time with monosaccharides like dextrose. Lager yeast have metabolic pathways for melibiose, ale yeast do not.

ok thanks! perfect!
I was thinking of adding Honey to my beer, and that seems like a simple sugar the yeast can eat.
