Anyone going to be in asbury park Saturday? You youngins prolly don't know them but the Pixies are playing at the Stone Pony

Pro tip--if there's a band playing outside at the Stone Pony that young people don't give a **** about, you can usually see/listen to them for free from the outside deck of The Watermark, which is across the street, and drink reasonably priced Head High (and awesome cocktails, if you prefer) instead of overpriced PBR inside the show.

They have a view of the Stony Pony's Summer stage?

Yeah. I mean, if you already have tickets for the show, I'm sure it will be amazing and you should still do that. But for outside shows that I want to hear but don't necessarily want to pay for, yeah I'll go hang out on the deck at Watermark and drink a beer.

This isn't a perfect image but it was the best one I could find that gives you a sense of how close the deck is to the Stone Pony:

The hop variety they used in the beer, Michigan Copper, makes it smell like Hawaiian Punch, so I guess they took a little bit of it and just went all in. It isn't my thing, but it makes some sense, and its still a less gross/superfluous addition than say, running an agave lager through a Randall of insects.

According to Augie the fried crickets or whatever taste like Fritos which is a good compliment to the beer...as we all have paired our beers with crunchy salty chips of some sort at some time...or whatever.

Did I get that right augiecarton?

I didn't have this on release and got it from a friend so I'm not sure if it was improper storage or it didn't hold up very well but this might be the most meh IPA I've had from Troon so far...and I'm a sucker for Citra.

well yea plus the entire idea of that beer is to play well with flavors derivative of oaxaca, where those crickets were sourced. cuisine is a a big world, we are just exploring it

We get each other. Although crickets aren't my jam.

Has this when it was on cask. Very interesting. Lot of barrel. Tasty for sure.

shame. one of the best meals i ever had, at noma, had crickets grasshoppers and ants in various parts of it. the ants were the coolest; because the chef limits himself to indigenous products and lemons don't grow in denmark , when he wants a lemony flavor he grinds dried ants (that taste like lemons) in a pepper grinder over a dish.
art born of limitation is often the most profound i find. but hey... strokes and folks

It was pretty cool when you can just stroll into their tasting room and buy stuff like that no sweat. Now a pre-order for $120 and you cant choose how many you want? you have to get the set no matter what? good joke

They're never gonna make everyone happy. I guess they find this worked for ANTEAD and it'll work for this too. More power to em.

Kane's problem is they care way too much about all the people crying on their facebook posts. They should just take the HF approach, limited releases only purchasable with creditcard/id so no one can just slime their way back in line to get extras.
