South Jersey denizens, a friend who's casually into beer is going to be spending a long weekend in Wildwood and wants to know if either Cape May or 7 Mile is worth a visit.

Cape may is worth a visit. I went couple years ago and have heard it's improved since then.
They do growlers/tasting/tours/pours
also have plenty of to go options
I think weds is there one off beer day draft only

Have not been to either 7 mile brewing or slack tide. Both prolly 20mins from wildwood.

A couple friends who have a house down there hang out at Slack Tide all the time. They prefer it to Cape May.

personally if i was spending a long weekend in wildwood i'd probably skip the breweries (they aren't anything you've never experienced even for a "Casual" beer person).... i'd bring my own beers or pick some up and spend my time at the shore and not in a brewery... that's just me though.. if i was there for a full week i'd maybe check them out... different strokes

Has anyone been to wet ticket brewing yet???

I've heard ok things. But it is, according to Google Maps, a 3 minute walk away from The Irving Inn Social (and their delicious short rib fried rice). So even if the beer is lousy, you've got that right down the street as a consolation.

This was my Friday night with Os went to wet ticket and then headed to Irving Inn Social. The short rib fried rice was banging. Thanks for the info.

Then headed to twin elephant and everything they had there was solid.

anyone have any reccs for food/beer in Montclair? i'm gonna have a few hours to kill up there on Saturday.

I also need the same rec for Marlboro actually. I need a spot for a quick beer/lunch. I'm pressed for time so it has to be in town or damn close

Maloney's in Matawan. Right off the parkway. Expensive beers, but lots on tap, solid pub food.

yeah i would have to go with Maloney's. really not too many beer places around other than that. if you just want food Oesteria's pizza place and the restaurant in front of it are outstanding!

Sadly Maloney's is too far. I'm dropping my wife off at a baby shower at noon and picking her up at 1 because we have to go back out house hunting that afternoon.

ahhh damn! if i wasn't working i'd offer to host a short share at my shop right in Marlboro haha

The office in Montclair usually has a decent taplist and food. But your best bet is to visit a store called angelbecks for the bottle and can selection then byob at Cuban Pete's.
I cannot recommend Cuban Pete's enough, that place is cheap and delicious.

I don't know what your tastes are or anything, but axeman9182 is on point with the Ani Ramen suggestion. That would be my top pick. However, I haven't been there in like a year because it is ALWAYS crowded af, so you should have some backups just in case. But if you do make it in, I tend to order and can highly recommend the mazeman.

There's a taco place right down the street from Ani called Villalobos that is pretty good, kinda pricey. There's a better version of that same restaurant (in that Villalobos shamelessly ripped off this place) in Bloomfield called El Matador that I would highly recommend.

I feel like I'm always recommending Mesob, which is an Ethiopian place that I absolutely love, but may not be for you. But if you like eating small piles of meat and veggies with your hands, some very spicy, some not at all, using hunks of spongy bread to pick it up, give it a shot.

I'm not a fan of The Office, but you can usually get like a Founders All Day and some pub food, so if thats what you're in the mood for, by all means go for it.

If you want to spend a little money, have a great meal, a great cocktail, and a decent beer selection, Pig and Prince is outstanding.

Egan's is hot garbage, don't go there.

But I would say the single best place that kind of has everything I want in one location is either Cowan's (which is in Nutley) or The Barrow House (which is in Clifton, so closer). Neither is more than 10 minutes from Montclair, but if you have limited time, or won't have a car with you, then they're not especially accessible.

That's everything off the top of my head. But you can feel free to PM me if you need anything else.

Theres another place nearby in Montclair that I just remembered called The Crosby. Its kind of new so I haven't been there, but the food and drink menus looks interesting, and I've heard good things.
