Hey guys, so my friends convinced me to brew last minute, and while I was relatively intoxicated, I made a beer yesterday using the ingredients I had available. I used some homegrown (HG) hops, so the bitterness is not totally known, but I usually use 1 or 2x the homegrown hops as I would store bought pellets. Below is what I recorded as the ingredients; what type of beer would you call this?
Mashed 10lbs 2-row @15 , 1 hour
3 lbs Briess Golden Light DME
3 lbs CBW Traditional Dark DME
1 lbs CBW Bavarian Wheat DME
60min boil:
3oz HG Nugget - 60min
1oz HG Willamette - 30min
Irish moss - 15min
1oz Cascade pellets - flame out
2pks Danstar Nottingham yeast, from a small starter that was only rehydrated for a few hours.
OG was 1.092
It seems to be Vigorously fermenting now, jettisoning out of the blow off tube, which I’m thankful for remembering to put on. I definitely didn’t mean to make the gravity that high, but hey, it happened.
What do you guys think? Is this a double brown ale? Porter? Something else? Should I dry hop some noble or more subtle hops later?
