That is a nice mail find. You won't get hit with $400 ticket until summer of 2029, right. And don't be shy about asking for help with the grocery bags. Kids need that as part of growing up well.

Just did a toast to you. Drinking the last glass of my coveted best batch ever of Czech pilsner. Shzzcshzz ... I hate that "this keg is over" sound.

A pair of replacement polysulfone pump heads for my March 815pl pumps arrived this AM. After almost 18 years I finally snapped the top threaded neck off one of the pumps that were sticking out from my brew rig when I clipped the ball valve on top with my 2-wheeler while moving a heavy chunk of equipment. Dumb move on my part.

In case someone ever goes through this, the part number is 0809-0079-0100 for the pump head.
And a note: the heads do not include the pivot pin 0809-0161-1000 for the pump rotor (item 5, below)

You can remove the pressed-in pin from the old head by pushing sideways back and forth on the tip of the pin to gradually deform the plastic and work the pin loose (it is not glued) and then you can press the pin into the new head (a bench vise can be handy for that).

No pics but I took a chance and ordered a pack of liquid yeast - Imperial Pub A09. Arrived in two days, both ice packs melted, no surprise there, slightly swollen but seemingly ok. It’s for only an 2 gallon batch though I’ll probably still make a starter. Also ordered two sets of Kegland QD’s.

Thought I'd say that I always order liquid yeast all year round. I live in Florida and in 22 years of brewing and ordering liquid yeast from online retailers I have never had dead yeast. I always make a starter and fermentation always takes off very quickly, even in the summer. This had been my experience and the ice packs are always melted. You should be fine if you make a starter.

Thanks for the reassurance John. Cheers.

fwiw, I've been on the 20cf O2 tank exchange with AirGas for well over a decade, and for whatever reason I always get a new looking swap. When I did CO2 tank swaps with them some of the beaters they gave me I wondered if they'd 'splode on the way home

That's my current 20cf in the background. It's nearly mint!

I always like good reference books. Sure you could use the internet, but reading a book feels better to me. And during a power outage you have something to do, read a book by candle light!
I like having some things on my phone, like a service manual for my truck or tractor, but for things like brewing books I'd much rather have the hard copy. I recently bought hard copies of Greg Noonan's lager book and the BA's Draught Quality Manual even though I already have PDF's of both. Sometimes it's just nice to pick up a book and not be staring at a screen.

Early Christmas! Arrived today -
Anton Paar EasyDens and 4 used corny kegs (I am moving from 5 to 10 g batches on a few must have on hand taps. Czech Pilsner, Stout, Squirrel Nut Brown Ale.)

Love the EasyDens - really helpful tool to have if you are in it for the long run. Highly recommended.
Congratulations in your larger batches!

I started out doing five gallon batches, then ten and again to 15. Now I have settled back to ten gallons. I can split a ten gallon batch of say wheat and have one keg with fruit.

Thanks. It was an exciting brew day trying to mash 23+ lbs in the 35L Brewzilla. Thankfully my Brewzilla extender (adds 3 gallons ) and extension arm arrives this week so I will be able to do the bigger batches more comfortably . I think I will also put the grain in 2 bags, 10 lbs each so it is easier to pull the mash bin out.

Since my temp control setup is on hold until I get a few more connectors ... I just did a batch using kyveik (Voss) to handle the 90° temperatures. In full turbo mode now... Bubbles and foamy blowoff water.

Are you Gen 3 or Gen 4? I have the Gen 3 with the extended boiler and malt pipe, I've gone as high as 9 KG with decent brewhouse efficiency but never pushed 10 before, always done reiterated mashing with that weight of grain...

I brew with separate components. I sized them all for 15 gallon batches which works good for ten gallon batches should I brew a big beer.

Handling big loads of grain is the draw back of larger batch sizes but having an extra keg of a stellar beer makes it worth while!

Gen 4. I just got the extended collar (ordered, arriving this week ) , not the malt pipe. I figured I could just use a BIAB and load it on top of the std. size malt pipe and be okay - we shall see. Ha.

Big load is spot on. Thankfully, I was brewing with a nephew who got to do all the newby cleaning jobs as the brew progressed. So I was well rested when it came time to "clean and jerk" the malt pipe out. Ha

Pretty decent trade-in, some paint on it but not bad at all.

I bought my Edgestar twin tap kegerator 14 years ago.
For the past 14 years I have been cursing those darn cheap rear seal taps that always get stuck!
Today in the mail I finally got some front seal taps to eliminate that problem. :)
I also went into my garage and turned a couple of wood tap handles, one for the dark beer and one for the light beer.

It was. It was a tip posted by Slim M. I grabbed one and the next day they went back to like $79. Seems pretty solid. Haven’t tried it yet,

I've been using one for several years now.
It pumps hot wort just fine.
The only issue is that it is not self-priming and you will need to find whichever way works best to get whatever you are pumping primed into it before it will pump.

I like the emoji look of your plug socket.

Shame it isn't looking smiley in the second photo as the taps and tap handles look great.

Awesome handles! My single tap sticks all the time on the first pull. Is that what the deal is? Rear vs front seal taps?

There are two different tap design types rear seal and forward seal.
Here is an explanation from the Perlick website (although I didn't purchase the Perlick taps).
