First time visiting a local brewpub called the Mack House in Plantation, FL. Very nice.

Hung out at Boot Strap Brewing in Niwot Co. with the wife for the afternoon. Had their pale, IPA, and chili beer. Great stuff, will go back soon.

Went to 1940s Holbrook NY, had a summer wheat, a honey ale, and a nice black IPA .

Recently went to: TommyKnockers Brewery & Pub in Idaho Springs, CO. Really enjoyed their Baltic Porter.

Went to: Farm House at Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton, CO. Enjoyed their 471 IPA.

Went to: Wynkoop Brewing Co. in Denver, CO. Enjoyed their FOAB Imperial Stout.

Went to: Locavore Beer Works in Littleton, CO. Enjoyed their Sister Christian.

Went to: New Terrain Brewing Co. in Golden, CO. Enjoyed their Against the Current.

Went to: 38 State Brewing Company in Littleton, CO. Enjoyed their Strawberry Lawns Forever.

Went to: CB & POTTS Restaurant and Brewery in Highlands Ranch, CO. Enjoyed their Disorder Porter.

Went to: Mountain Toad Brewing in Golden, CO. Enjoyed their Mt. Zion IPA

Went to a couple of others that really are not worth mentioning....

Checked out a new brewery, Invictus. My 'burb finally got its own brewery, only 2 miles from my house--dangerously close. Decent pub grub from the Tipsy Steer, which shares the taproom. Beats the sketchy food trucks at some of the other places around here.

Vista Brewery in Driftwood (Austin), Tx. On paper should be good food and beer but all was mediocre with seriously slow service. We were ignored at the bar by workers who just took orders from couples in front of us. Nice venue tho.

Me and the wife visited there 2 1/2 years ago. It was our favorite brewery in all of Florida.

On our way home from Brewfest today, hit up Pelican in Pacific City (good beers, $$$ food), De Garde in Tillamook (nothing but sours, pretty good), and Fort George in Astoria (great beer, good food, great time). Had a great time at Brewfest as we always do, met some wonderful people and picked up some ideas for the brewery. Happy to be home with my own though.

Glad you enjoyed it. There are much better brewfests in Portland and Oregon than the Brewers Festival, though. What ideas did you pick up?

Tucker Brewing Company in Tucker GA. Brand new brewery, very nice place. Huge beer garden. Only four beers on tap, pilsner, hefe, two lagers. Good beers but needs more variety.

We hit Fort George last August. Awesome brews and food. Did you hit the hunted distillery, Pilot House? No joke, sh!t happened right in front of me. The proprietor had a few stories after that incident.

Dammit didn't find out about that until just now! Most definitely will add it to our list for next year. Fort George had both awesome beers and food, were very happy with our visit. Also forgot to mention we hit up Lucky Labrador as well, more good beers and fun. All in all a very good vacation although I was a bit beered-out by the end of it (say it ain't so!!!). Brewfest had a few Milkshake IPA's for tasting this year, must say I like the style if paired with juicy hops, and can't wait to try brewing one come this fall. Also first year we've come home with NO tasting tokens left for next year, timed it down to the last taster.

Milkshake IPAs. We tried three, was very impressed. The last few years they've been heavy on goses and sours, neither of which we like, so we were pleasantly surprised to find a lot of brews we liked this year. I'm thinking of doing one with fresh peaches, Mosaic hops, and lactose to give a nice sweet finish. Too late for competition (not to mention we spent a lot of $$ so money for brewing is tight). The hard part is going to be making sure I get the "milk" sweetness just right while letting the fruit and hops shine. Love a challenge!

Finally made it to Dogfish Head this week-end in Rehoboth Beach. Beer was good and food was good. Really enjoyed the dry-rubbed wings and the Cheesesteak with mushrooms and their 90 minute IPA cheese sauce. YUM!

It's one of the few remaining victorian tower breweries, still family owned - their head brewer is 5th generation I think, was steam powered up to 2006 and has a small but respectable estate of about 35 pubs
