Omg I'm salivating over these whiskeys. I don't drink a lot of them so please excuse the naivety but it seems 4 roses is something everyone likes? I see so many versions though.

Checkout a good local liquor store. They usually have "classes" where you just sample a bunch of varieties of whiskeys and they describe what to look for.

There's one I go to run by a well known writer. It's usually free and if you do pay they usually apply to any purchases. Plus they usually really discount it.

It's a good way of finding out what you like without spending much money.

The first time I went to this class I was looking for American whiskeys because I normally centered toward scotches. He put out a 4 Roses single batch and single barrel. Even he said it was really good compared to the multi $100 high end whiskeys we sampled.

Four Roses are my favorite. The common ones are small batch and single barrel. I like the single barrels because the selector of the barrel gets to choose between 10 different recipes, the rickhouse , thenproof, and the age statement. They have 10 different recipes too!

Aside from that, you can get the small batch or single barrels in limited editions too, which are harder to find. Some examples. Check the labels closely.

Fiddlehead and a Flower Power. Got to say that it seems like fiddlehead is using much more wheat/oats in the recipe than they used too. You can kind of taste it in the finish

It’s not too shabby. Haha
Thankfully a friend of mine had it on draft and said it was “green” so I waited a couple weeks to crack one open. Since we split a 4-pack I wanted to savor the two cans I had so it was nice of him to give me a heads up when he tried it on draft.
Thankfully I should be at their brewery (The Veil) later this month to restock. I haven’t been there in a while so I’m excited. Plus to pick up some more RVA beers.
