Well today is Friday, 4:00. As my Dear Ol’ Dad was known to say, “It’s Miller Time!”
The week’s work is more or less done, so no blender for today! Straight-up Sierra Nevada Electric Torpedo West Coast IPA. I can’t believe that my entire box of IPAs are now gone! Amazing how fast dedicated beer drinkers can chug through a half-rack, eh?
It really is amazing how many IPA variations are being produced. Twenty years ago during the big growth in home brewing and commercial craft brewing, I guess we should have seen it coming. Back then there were maybe 10 different IPAs in the cold case, and growing each time you went there. Today, if I go into the craft brewing section of Total Wine or Bevmo, the IPA choices are absolutely endless.
I did an IPA tour about a year or two ago and was really amazed at the variety of styles, but surprised at the range of production quality as well. While the most IPAs were generally good, it was clear that a lot of these were from limited run or pilot batches. Some of them I suspect canned just to get the batch out the door and get rid of it, brewing crud and all in a number of examples.
Not with Sierra Nevada! This is a fantastic IPA, in fact all of Sierra Nevada’s IPAs are fantastic, as are all their regular and seasonal releases. So good, I may need to go round up another 12 pack of these Hopsters, they’re great! Cheers!
