Hey,

I am trying to get a big starter ready for this weekend.

I started a approximately 3 quart starter Sunday evening about 7. I used one package of wlp001 and 1.040 wort with stir plate.

I plan on preparing 2 more gallons of 1.040 wort and adding it directly to the starter tonight. This will give me enough yeast for my two batches this weekend.

I am concerned I have not given the first step enough time to finish up. The krausen has not fallen yet. Should I wait? I really want to get the next step going to allow time to chill and decant for brew day this Saturday.

If I add the two gallons of wort tonight when should I chill it?

Well, last night I added the 2 gallons of wort and put the lid on. By the time I washed my pot, bubbling had resumed in the air lock. This morning I found a mess in the kitchen, air lock jammed with krausen and blew off, spilling all over the top and sides of the bucket. I guess there is no issues with my timing!!!
