Ok, so I am planning to brew a kolsch on Sunday. I bought a pack of WLP029. I have been wanting to start a yeast bank, so figured this was a good time to start. I built a starter and wasn’t sure if I would come out with enough for freezing and a batch since I don’t yet have a stir plate. Anyhow, I crashed the starter today, decanted, swirled to put the yeast cake back in suspension and then poured the remainder into a small erlenmyer flask (250 ml) to see what I got. It turned out to be around 200ml. I poured about 70ml into a sterilized bowl and used it to fill 10 vials with 6ml each for future use.
I put the sanitized stopper in the small flask and stuck it in the fridge.
It is settling and looks like about 100ml yeast.
Is this too much for a 3 gallon batch of kolsch?

Just looked at it in the fridge and looks like it is settling down around 75ml. I think I’m good. 😬
