I use a rare earth magnet on the outside bottom, works like a charm.
i use one on the outside and pull the bar out all together, right out the top, with the start still in there.
I'm the one who always forgets to put a magnet on and dump it right into my carboy. I should put a sticker on my flask to remind me.
I like to just dump mine in the primary with the starter. At least that's how I have done it the last 3 times.
Do you guys pour the fermented malt into the new wort? I usually spin up the yeast into suspension and all the whole 1600 ml into my wort. Any problems whit this? It sounds like a stupid question, so sorry, but the cake at the bottom is the yeast right?! ::
