Finally got my brewery back together again. Pilsner tomorrow, and a blonde on Sunday!
I have a big jar of 1 year old yeast slurry that is still nice and creamy off-white and smells good. I made some starter wort today and added a big spoonful of it. I also found two small jars of washed yeast that's 18 months old. (also Voss kveik) If I had more time (in case of a failure) I would have used one of them. I suspect they are still good too but might be slow to wake up.I bet it’ll be fine. I have some year old Kveik Voss leftover from an overbuild. Later this summer I plan on putting back on a stir plate and seeing if it’s alive. If so, and I think it will be, I’ll brew a grapefruit pale ale with it.
8 hours later I have bubbles. The year-old stuff is not just alive, it's still healthy.I have a big jar of 1 year old yeast slurry that is still nice and creamy off-white and smells good. I find reports of yeast viability to be way more vibrant than common knowledge. I had a pack of Imperial that I was given for free by my LHBS that was almost 8 months old actually spill out of my 5l flask on a stir plate.8 hours later I have bubbles. Love to hear how this turns out.Going to try Cream of Three Crops this weekend with Lutra kveik since temps in my apartment are making it difficult to keep my fermenter cool.
I like that beer, super light and summery. Should be great with Lutra.Going to try Cream of Three Crops this weekend with Lutra kveik since temps in my apartment are making it difficult to keep my fermenter cool.
Don't hear this very often. LOLI can’t wait to bottle

I hope you chilled the bottles.I'm weird, I don't mind bottling at all. Bottle carbing I do hate but that's because I can't get consistent results and hate to wait 2 weeks. This is my first batch I'm carbing in the fermenter (Spike+) so I'm hoping to be drinking it tonight.
That's the same yeast I used for mine. First time trying it. Wasn't necessarily my first choice, but I needed to use it up and figured it would work.I have a week off until my new job starts, so I did the unthinkable and brewed on a Tuesday
Brewed a NEIPA with Motueka, Vic Secret and El Dorado.
OG came out to 1.063.View attachment 736223View attachment 736224
Lallemand New England yeast, and will dry hop with Enigma and Experimental HBC 630 at high krausen.
Mine too. I brew 2.5 and 3 gallon batches, so liquid yeast is usually not practical for me. I've heard good things about this yeast, though, so I'm hoping it turns out nice. That's the same yeast I used for mine. First time trying it. My brew is the one above yours, so no it isn't ready yetMine too. I brew 2.5 and 3 gallon batches, so liquid yeast is usually not practical for me. I've heard good things about this yeast, though, so I'm hoping it turns out nice.
Have you already drank yours? If so, how was it?
Haha, didn't even notice. Nice! I'll probably try out the Verdant strain next.My brew is the one above yours, so no it isn't ready yet. It's also a 2.5ish gallon brew. Small world

That I have used and it is one of my favourite yeasts. Be prepared for the krausen to end all krausens when you use it. Get's nice and big and refuses to drop.Haha, didn't even notice. Nice! I'll probably try out the Verdant strain next.
