So who's brewing this weekend?

I like the IC water running the sprinkler. I usually fill buckets and dump it around trees. Might have to try the sprinkler idea.
I’ve been using the IC with a sprinkler since I started brewing at the city house about seven years ago. It just seemed like a logical thing to do. I brew in the garage and it’s easy to just set the kettle at the end of the sidewalk and water the lawn while cooling the wort. It’s also good for getting strange looks from the neighbors when I brew in the winter and am watering the snow covered lawn. 😄

In winter I brew inside, on the stove top, then use the faucet to run the IC. However, I just let the water run down the drain. I'm not about the schlep buckets of water outside. I measured once--it takes about 25 gallons of water to chill a 5 gallon batch to ale pitching temps.

Never had this happen - last night I had a double hit of - keg over and out. No more nut brown and no more stout. Thankfully, I did 10 gal batches for each and a 5 g back up was ready to go ... All cool and carbed.

But it left me today feeling like I needed to brew again. Right now. This morning.

And a 10+ gal batch of a blonde English IPA is in the kettle mashing. Busy morning - measured out grain (24.8 lbs) and milled.
Pale Ale, Marris Otter, 2 row, carapils, flaked corn, red x, and some honey malt.
Smells amazing. Hops? Galaxy, Amarillo and Willamette . 1 oz each.

Basically - as of 8:30 am - no plans to brew ... But here we are. About half way thru the mash.

Earlier today, Nut Brown Ale on the boil.

I'm way behind on my brewing plans and have just (well, last night) kicked the Brut keg. I need to save at least some of the Belgian Amber as I need a mini keg for a gathering with some mates, and a couple of bottles for homebrew club.

I need to sort my barleywine so might try brewing that tomorrow. Them try and squeeze an IPA or best bitter in next week.

Doughed in on the back lanai on a spiced Belgian Christmas beer that I put together. Smells incredible out here. Beautiful morning, a cold front came through finally to kill this heat and it was 55 degrees earlier this morning. Now it is 63! Have a great weekend everyone!

Tried my hand at a skibsøl over the weekend. Did basically this exact recipe: https://beerandbrewing.com/recipe-right-proper-skibsol/ I made a couple dumb (but probably insignificant) mistakes, so we'll see how it turns out.

I wasn't familiar with that style, but upon seeing the linked recipe, looks like something I'd like to try. I love those oddball historical brews, like Grodziskie, etc.

Let us know how it goes.

Wasn't planning on brewing this weekend, but my relatives kicked all three of my beers this past Sunday, the savages that they are! Out of beer for my homebrew club meeting tonight, going to get so many demerits! :p So probably will whip up an American Stout this weekend and get my Altbier kegged and quick carbed too.

Still no luck getting a brew on these last few weeks, and it's now dropped below sub zero.

I have been pulling bits together for my barley-wine-imperial-west-coast-IPA-sorta thing which is planned up next, though.

10%
OG 1.090
FG 1.014

80% Floor-Malt MO
10% Invert
7% CaraRed
3% Extra Light Crystal 100

30 IBU of Columbus Cryo @30m for bittering
Still tweaking the rest of the hop schedule, but it'll be a mixture of Amarillo Cryo, Citra Cryo and Strata.

3 packs of WHC High Voltage.

After a years hiatus, where every spare minute was taken to rebuild my boat from the keel up, I'll be cleaning, sanitizing and checking operation of my equipment in anticipation of a Saturday brew date with a spiced winter ale. I've come to the conclusion that "store bought" beer sucks and cant wait to to get my fermenters going.

My weekend starts today and Bock is in the menu to brew. Coffee and breakfast first though.

Milled grain is in the mash tun waiting, it'll be "mashing" by 9am.
Done, except for cleanup and hauling out spent grain. Having a brew, my favorite other than my own!
