Another thing I'm into, is decorating for Halloween. My best friends have an old farmhouse with a wrap around porch, and every year they let me go hog wild. For each season we build one large "set piece" One year it was a full sized coffing (that we are working on the mechanism to have it open and close automatically) 2 years ago we built a working guilloteen, and last year we built an animatronic electric chiar...a corded drill, with an offset cam causes the guy to bounce up and down. It is synced to a looped soundtrack of a guy getting tazered and screaming, as well as the strobe above his head, and it is operated by a foot pedal on a long cord. (I have a vid someplace.)

We start in late August building a setting stuff up...and we get drivebys all through the month as we're building. I found out there is a mom with 2 young boys, who want to drive by the house everyday to see what we're doing.

OhioBrit: The Floyd-themed piece is awesome!

Thanks Rick! Us wannabe delicate wiggy arty farty types need a LOT of ego stroking!

I have four other music based pieces, one of which is a lot less obvious than the rest.

OK, after this one I'm done with being an image posting whore....honest.

I spend most of my non-brewing time with the family, but I do play guitar and golf, and I'm not particularly good at either one of them.

Oh and online poker. :D

I spend a lot of time fly fishing for steelhead (I caught the first one spin casting- do that to mix it up sometimes). I like to bow hunt too, but I'm not as into that as I once was. I golf way too much for my own good during Ohio's season too.

Here's some pics.

I BBQ. Yes, those are RTD readouts and a laptop in the photo. Me = nerd. This is an OLD picture.

I also have a small cattle farm with my dad.

And when I don't have anything else to do, THIS is what I really enjoy: playing with my girls.

Docapi - SCA or something else?

If it's SCA, we could have met at Pennsic:

That's me on the right, candidly shot at a party.

Cheers,

Bob

Yup, SCA Northshielder here.

Alas, I have not made Pennsic yet. Maybe someday.

I did make Gulf Wars this spring, though.

I used to be very active in the SCA. My name there is Lord Hagen von Diejager. I was also involed in the corporate end of a smaller group, and that just killed my taste for medievalisim.

These days I play airsoft.

Me thinks thy penis pocket is exposed!

It takes a real man to wear a codpiece! :D

Kevin Dean,

I have met LARPers who put reenactors and "real" living historians - which I am, having worked with more than a dozen historic sites in the Mid-Atlantic states - to shame. You should see some of the "historical LARPs" taking place in Continental Europe! There was one last year with a 16th-century German group that built a replica of Da Vinci's tank. A wooden tank on wheels. I mean, duuuuuude! :)

Docapi,

Vivat Northshield! I camped with Northshielders (well, transplanted to Atlantia) this past Pennsic, and may be camping in the Northshield kingdom encampment next year. We'll see. We're going to Gulf Wars, too! Keep an eye on http://www.reconstructinghistory.com - we're taking our business.

Cheers,

Bob

Well, the SWMBO and I have a hobby, we collect hobbies.

Some we keep, some we don't. We made candles for a while, that was fun and we may start up again sometime. We like to go to Ren faires. We both love to cook. We are in a car club and spend a lot of time and money customizing our PT cruisers (Don't laugh, they're very fast). Gave archery a go for a while, haven't done that for some time. I have ridden motorcycles since I was a kid, but we recently got back into that when SWMBO bought us a new Harley and she decided riding on the back was not nearly fun enough so she got a bike as well. Now we are getting into brewing, beer and meade. We'll see how this goes but so far it has the feel of a keeper.

Right now, I am mostly focused on writing two books. Once those are done, I have an airplane that needs to get built.

I ride motorcycles... 5 miles each way to work, March through November, and whenever else I go out. When it gets snowy, I leave the bike at home and drive the convertible with the top down. The coldest I've ridden is negative 20F. With the windchill at 65mph, that's awfully cold.

I used to play professional chess. I used to fence sabre. I, too, have collected hobbies to a great degree. I still enjoy a little guitar from time to time as well.

I sim race on iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations, Ive got 300 dollars in my chassis and 250 in my wheel, pedals, and gear shifter and it all races right over the internet. I've run about 8 races with Dale Earnhardt Jr., he is a big supporter of sim racing.

Fishing.....this pic is already here in TxBrew's Fishing thread.

Hmm, I gotta get a new camera. My digital died. Mostly gardening, cooking, salami making, preserving. But gardening has become more of a way of life than a hobby really. I'd say the majority is food oriented. Oh, mushroom hunting, mycophagy, hiking, camping. Hobbies are limited now though with the wee ones. Online gaming was on there at one point, as were like a bajillion things that I fall in and out of sync with. I don't really 'stay' with one thing for very long.

Most recently, I went on my honeymoon in Japan.

On the weekends I compete in StrongMan contests. Just kidding, I watch redskins football, read redskins related websites, shop for redskins related merchandise and I love to cook new things on my grill/smoker.

This is what I do for fun.....

Hey Thats the El Cheapo Brinkman, Correct? I have one of those. Did you do any modification to your coal pan? I am having a hard time keeping my temps up and read if you drill some holes and add a grate to your coal pan it helps a lot.
