Does anyone have a quick and easy first time sweet wine recipe?
SHMBO likes sweetish wines (moscato, etc.) and I am just looking for something to try out for fun just to get some general knowledge and experience making wine, I have not decided how deep I might go into winemaking but I would like to try and make something for her that won't takes months to be ready.

Thanks in advance

For a wine like moscato, you'd probably be best off with a wine kit as buying the grapes and crushing them and then handling them properly with acid adjustments and fermenting does take many months. A wine kit can be done in 2 months or so, and be pretty decent.

I just bottled an Island Mist, White Zin., very pleasant sweet wine...in fact everyone says it's too sweet as they open the next bottle. Not very strong, more wine cooler area than serious wine. Bet she would like it. Cheap kit, easy to make.

Thanks for the replies,

Yooper: I definitely agree as far as kits, I am nowhere near considering crushing grapes, etc. don't know if I will ever be, likely not as I am not really a wine drinker myself (I guess that could change) but for the foreseeable future? nope. I was really looking to mess around with a 1 gallon batch as I stated it's really for her not me and if she doesn't like it, well I wouldn't have that much invested in it.

Mismost: Where did you get the kit and what was the size of it?

Almost all wine kits are 6 gallons and make 30 bottles of wine. Many of those Island Miss kids are often under $70 so it's about $2.25 per bottle or so.

If you keg, and she likes wine cooler/spritzers kind of drinks you can always consider that as well.

They don't make 1 gallon wine kits at least not that I know. You could do an apple wine or other type of non-– grape one But people who tend to like ones like moscato tend to not really care for that and generally a wine from fresh fruit or even from juice can take a long time.

Thanks Yooper, I do keg so I can always add some bubbles for her.
6 gallons it a lot for an experiment so I guess I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best.

LHBS and it was a 6 gallon kit...I netted about 28 bottles...it was quick, easy, and looks good in the bottles.
