I know that 3/4 of a cup is the recommended amount of priming sugar for 5 gallons. But my last few brews have had some pretty vigorous fermentations and i normally lose a quarter to half a gallon. there fore i would use a little less than 3/4 priming sugar becuase its not quite 5 gallons. should i use 3/4 anyway? even its its not at 5 gallons?

The amount of sugar depends on what kind of beer you're making. Certain styles (hefewizen) are spritzer, whereas a bitter should be less carbonated and use less sugar. Google priming sugar calculator and you should find what you're looking for. I use the beer smith software, which tells me what to add.
