Final Cycle 2016 rankings:

Monday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday

Tuesday

Monday would prob be the only one I'd actively seek out again. What people want for Wednesday is absurd for what the beer actually is imo. Thursday and Friday were close - not bad but a noticeable drop from Wednesday

So, for me:

Monday > Thursday > Friday > Tuesday > Wednesday. While Hump Day was yummy, it brought so much hazelnut that it hid the coffee and barrel for me, plus...it birthed a morning headache the next day (which only three cups of coffee and Thursday cured). Agree that Monday would be the only one on my BOLO list from the series. Think I enjoyed Pallet 1 and Pallet 5 more than the weekdays, with maybe the exception of Monday.

Is the extra 'd' for a "double dose" of pimping?

Well done, insurrection, on the idiocracy reference.

Good thing as they would get heavy.

Still haven't gotten to the Pallet 5 or Nooner9, but if they aren't better than the Weekdays, I got #floriduhd

The suspense is killin me, there's gotta be a story behind $71 worth of pizza.

I wasn't really serious about tacos, but now that I mentioned it, I tried Las Palmas in brookline for the first time earlier this week. Pretty damn good! I'll be back.
Haha. There's actually no story. I picked up 3 pizzas and some fries for the hockey game last night and then I fell asleep shortly after getting home.

That reminded me, I stopped by and tried that Nelson DIPA the other day. It was okay. Had the Sedition 3 IPA though and that was pretty decent.

Nelson is a lot like Amarillo to me. I like it in a blend but don't like it as a single hop. They both need another flavorful hop to help carry the load.

Fastenbier is amazing if you like smoke. Fresh Braumeister Pils also amazing. Ritterguts Gose is a great classic example of the style, never had it on draft.

I'd probably order those three, making sure to order Schlenkerla last so I could have 2 or 3 of them.

Edit: I've been to Chuchkey several times and always had excellent, knowledgeable bartenders. I wouldn't be afraid to trust a recommendation or two from them either.

So you must have a thing for churches?

Caliente Mt Lebo had a solid opening. Fewer taps than Bloomfield, but a good selection. Based on their pricing, happy hour is the way to go.

Any been to Hop House? Wanted to stop after a long day, but was in a work vehicle & couldn't.
Idk if its Carnegie or Greentree or whut. Worth a visit?

Greensboro Bend, VT
Monson, MA
Decorah, IA
Meadville, PA
Athens, OH
Baker City, OR

Should I go on? A lot of these top shelf breweries are in the middle of nowhere. Breweries are expensive and real estate is expensive. Gotta cut costs somewhere.

I'm not sure "destination brewery" is a reasonable business model. I would think that breweries like Hill Farmstead are more the exception than the norm. I'm not familiar with all the cities on your list but Meadville and Athens at least have colleges and something going on. It's awesome that the current climate of the industry allows places like this to pop up anywhere. I just wonder if it's sustainable?

FWIW, the most out of the way brewery I've ever seen was literally in the middle of nowhere an hour north of Scranton, 20 miles from the nearest highway. https://www.google.com/maps/place/E...85,11z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x33366249bc71f5d5

They weren't open when i drove by but it almost seemed like a joke by how remote it was.

HF isnt so much a realty prices thing as it is a historical family homestead thing.

I assume you aren't talking about the Hop House on the corner of 3 Degree and Babcock...
Idk. It was on some windy ass road in the woods, with ****** pave job. I know that describes most of PGH suburbs, but it was on a back way to the west end bridge. Google I shall.

Edi:
Based on their screen shot circa 1997 Netscape Navigator 1.8, I've deciphered thst it is in greentree after all.

Missed yesterday. Tl Dr. Someone keep cliff notes for me starting Monday since I'll be giving the Florida mouse all my wife's money for a week. Don't want to miss out on a week of pittsburgh beer news

Yup. Same place, two locations.

I pretty much go to the one in Ross Twp for trivia occasionally only. It's a smoking establishment so I am not a huge fan.

Ah, didn't know that. My step-dad's been a chaplain at Pottsville Hospital for the past 25+ years (we're from Reading). I used to be 100% about Yuengling, it's gotta be tied with Guinness for the beer I've drank the most of in my life. Awesome brewery tour, too.

That's interesting. We would actually hit that church in the hospital when my parents wanted a quick service.

Great tour. I recommend it

Lotta church in one place
