Hi, I’m going on a beer-focused trip to Munich for a few days with some friends. We plan to visit Weltenburg, Weihenstephan, Augustiner, and the Hallertau area. I’ve also heard that the Karmeliten brewery is really good.

Do you have any more recommendations on where we could go? Those magical, hidden spots that don’t appear in guides alongside the typical places.

It's not in town, but Aying has Ayinger, and is supposed to be a nice day or night trip.

I had Ayinger Dunkel from a keg and I'm still chasing the flavor. (The bottles are total garbage in the USA - I keep finding 6mo+ old ones.)

Some german here didn't think highly of Ayinger. But they also didn't like dunkel. Maybe the Ayinger helles doesn't stack up.
