Cellarworks in Sarver is aiming for a September open as of this morning.
I drove by that place on the way out to a job site 2 weeks ago. There really isn't much else around there. Seemed like a strange place for a brewery. I guess we could say the same about Helicon too. Isn't that in Oakdale? I'm always in these random places for work, so at least I'll benefit somewhat. Not sure about their long term prospects though...

Greensboro Bend, VT
Monson, MA
Decorah, IA
Meadville, PA
Athens, OH
Baker City, OR

Should I go on? A lot of these top shelf breweries are in the middle of nowhere. Breweries are expensive and real estate is expensive. Gotta cut costs somewhere.

I'm not sure "destination brewery" is a reasonable business model. I would think that breweries like Hill Farmstead are more the exception than the norm. I'm not familiar with all the cities on your list but Meadville and Athens at least have colleges and something going on. It's awesome that the current climate of the industry allows places like this to pop up anywhere. I just wonder if it's sustainable?

FWIW, the most out of the way brewery I've ever seen was literally in the middle of nowhere an hour north of Scranton, 20 miles from the nearest highway. https://www.google.com/maps/place/E...85,11z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x33366249bc71f5d5

They weren't open when i drove by but it almost seemed like a joke by how remote it was.

Buddy, we have a Sheetz, Getgo, and a movie theatre right there. It's a damn metropolis.

I'm looking forward to this place opening, as it'll literally be a sub-10 minute drive from my parents place. Hope their beer is at least passable.

jagoffbrewer - when are yinz jagoffs gonna start working on the SS location? I drive past every day hoping to see some activity...
Unfortunately this is not happening for numerous reasons which include the city, county, and residents. We did not want to make an announcement until we had closed on the building but the URA must publicly disclose their loans, as a result we had to say what was up. There will be a more formal public announcement in the near future.

I am heart broken and haven't been this depressed since finding out my crush on Courtney Boyle wasn't mutual in 9th grade. We hope to find a new location since we already have equipment on order and our existing system sold.

That is hyper-******, man, I'm sorry.

Heh, good ole Montrose. North of Scranton is about as rural as it gets.

conflicted on whether or not to "like" this post by the way...wish there was a "support" button

Anybody else get drunk on Waldos and Sazeracs last night?

I did. Woke up with beef jerky on my face.

Waldo's and Baby Saz was my good luck combo for Round 1 against the Rags*. Hoping it does the trick for round 2.

*Never Waldo's plural, because one of those and I don't want beer again for a couple days.

I wonder what that would be like.......o_O

Haha I love Waldo's, but my taste buds are done-zo after one. It's also big and relatively sweet.

(And who am I kidding, I want beer every night)

Right on word up, Hop Stoopid does it for me, after a few bombers i can't taste anything.

OneDropSoup have you had Waldo yet? I bet you ******* love Waldo. I bet you six bucks.

Just saw that Lawsons is expanding from a 280 sq ft building in their home to a 7500 sq ft warehouse. Pretty amazing to consider what they've accomplished in 9 years solely brewing out of a 280 sq ft space in their home (and then contract brewing).
They actually have a pretty sweet small barn space in the backyard where the brewery is. Something that would probably be completely outlawed in our state . No clue how they fit everything in it haha.

I'm sure I would, but how dare you try to capitalize off of my pleasure.

wait...what? Is that $19.99 for a case?
Back off, man - you see a stack of beer, I see a floor's worth of Energy-Star-compliant double panes!

Buy the whole pallet for $20 a pop, resell them for $40 a pop. Still a decent price, double your money. What's not to like?
