You guys getting the freestyle rakau or just the usual places available to homebrewers?I agree, it's unreal, just wish I got more.

Personal preference, mostly. There are so many better yeasts for neipas nowadays. Why is that? Personal preference, or some other reason? Seems to me there’s a lot of folks using that yeast for neipa’s.
Is that a thin man glass? Great looking homebrew tooKegged this beer about 3 weeks ago or so now I believe and it came out as my best hazy to date which I attribute a lot to using my new 6 gallon torpedo keg as a dry hop vessel. Big shout-out to dgallo for answering so many damn questions for me over the last couple years and helping me dial things in
Used imperial juice and came out to 6.3%. Hate to be that guy but I suck at pictures and it looks a lot better in person. Also need some non branded glasses for my own brews but for now enjoy the imprint one I used.
66.7% Pilsen
15.4% flaked oats
15.4 white wheat
And some rice hills naturally
Small ctz mash hop charge
WP was mostly citra and some lupomax citra
Dh was citra riwaka nz cascade and a bit of lupomax citra. It was a tiny bit green but went away after about a week and I love it now. Getting a lot of lemon little bit of grapefruit mixed with that classic citra taste. Seriously hope I can replicate the amount of lemon I got from it because I love it.
Next up is a double for the reading pretzel fest happening April 26th. Gonna be mostly nelson and citra with a little Galaxy I got from MHA that actually smells pretty good (crossing my fingers on that)
Imprint beer glass. Bought before they fired the entire staffIs that a thin man glass? Great looking homebrew too
@Dwaynehaze ain’t from ny. He doesn’t know buffalo ny breweries lolIs that a thin man glass? Great looking homebrew too
2.0-2.2 for hazies. Makes them drink thicker. Fidens is most likely at the lower end of that rangeQuick question, just kegged yesterday and curious what volume of co2 ppl are shooting for currently? I feel like when I was at fidens they were less carbonated... not under carbed or maybe a little for mouthfeel maybe. I'm certain this has been discussed but I'm being lazy and just throwing the question out there.
Yep, makes sense. Thanks2.0-2.2 for hazies. Makes them drink thicker. Fidens is most likely at the lower end of that range
Certainly not my greatest picture, bad lighting today with cloud cover again.
HAZY TIPA at 10.1% featuring freestyle rakau, freestyle Nelson and citra cryo & lupomax.

Very peachie/ stone fruit. Worked great with Nelson and Conan yeast
Unfortunately no Freestyle hops for me. Got my Rakau from Hop Alliance. You guys getting the freestyle rakau or just the usual places available to homebrewers?
That's where I got mine from as well. Smelled good so I'm excited to use it next brewUnfortunately no Freestyle hops for me. Got my Rakau from Hop Alliance.
I think it did. This beers seems very peachie but really can’t say it with confidence since I haven’t ran Conan by itself for many years let alone remember the temp I used. What's the consensus on fermenting Conan at 64F? You get more peachy notes that way?
Loving these reviews/recipes/pics, this and the west coast one. Thanks for sharing!Latest NE here, first TIPA. Very happy with this one, probably my favorite NEIPA to date that I've done. Hop saturation was crazy, my only negative is there's a tiny touch of an onion thing probably from the mosaic (it's so damn hard to get good mosaic nowadays), and a touch of grassiness that came out with age. Probably backing my DH temp back down to the 40's, but this was a nice experiment. Cryo >>>>>> Lupomax it's crazy, and I love the crosby citra.
OG 1.098, FG 1.024, 10% abv
Grain Bill
65% pilsner
25% flaked oats
10% dextrose
Mashed at 150, ph 5.2
20 min boil
6oz Mosaic, 2oz Citra T45's WP at 170 for 30 mins (dropped to
20g Citra incognito dip hop
Repitched a **** ton of verdant from a previous neipa, fermented at 66 up to 70ish at the end of fermentation (probe on the outside of the fermenter so hard to measure)
DH with 8/8/4/4 (oz) Crosby Citra '23/Hop Alliance Mosaic '24/Citra Cryo '23/Mosaic Cryo '23 at approx 60 degrees (warmer than normal) for 36 hours agitating 3x

24 oz for 6ish gals. 8lbs/bbl is the conversionCool, just recently started yo follow your Instagram, 24oz dry hop? Thats insane....How many gallons?
How long do you feel it usually takes your beers to hit their stride after kegging with that big of a DH?24 oz for 6ish gals. 8lbs/bbl is the conversion
It makes me wonder just how much more potent that amount is compared to 12 oz.24 oz for 6ish gals. 8lbs/bbl is the conversion
About a week. I like my IPAs on the greener side though and prefer a little hop bite. Usually let them carb for 4ish days before I pull a pint, the first pint is just a bunch of sediment, by the third pint I'm usually super happy with it. Usually canning off the whole batch on like day 7 after kegging. How long do you feel it usually takes your beers to hit their stride after kegging with that big of a DH?
It's not twice as good obviously, but I'd say maybe 50% better than a beer hopped at half of the rate? I'm big on hop saturation but the beers I do at 12oz and the ones at 24oz are designed really to be different drinking experiences. You do sacrifice a little drinkability at 8lbs/bbl but the hop saturation is worth it.It makes me wonder just how much more potent that amount is compared to 12 oz.
Feel you dude I need that saturation for it to hit like it used toIt's not twice as good obviously, but I'd say maybe 50% better than a beer hopped at half of the rate? Lupulin Threshold Shift anyone?Feel you dude I need that saturation for it to hit like it used to![]()
Gonna have to take an L breakLupulin Threshold Shift anyone?![]()
Superdelic is pretty rad. It will def work. Nectaron will work too for most people. I’ve actually abandoned using Nectaron in hazies. I think it lends itself much better to west coast IPAsTrying to work out my next recipe as my Rakau/ Citra/ Nelson keg has just kicked. I want to definitely go with Rakau and Citra again but was a bit unhappy with the Nelson I got so would like to sub something else in. Have 24 Nectaron from Hop Alliance and 24 YVH Superdelic. @Dgallo do you think either of these hops would work with this combination? I'm thinking Nectaron should work instead of Nelson but would you use it in the 1:1:1 ratio as its really potent?
Why did you abandon Nectaron in haziest out of curiosity? I'm a bit on the fence about it. Cabomake my mind up if I like it or not.Superdelic is pretty rad. It will def work. I agree with dgallo, I LOVE it in WCIPA. The thing is nectaron has a dankness to it that doesn't always fit for NEIPAWhy did you abandon Nectaron in haziest out of curiosity? I'm a bit on the fence about it. Cabomake my mind up if I like it or not.
Would you keep Superdelic in an even ratio? I used it with Citra before and really liked it but would need to check my notes what ratio I used it in
It’s just been way too diesel and earthy. Seemed like a bit of a distraction, like if took away from the brightness/juicyness.Why did you abandon Nectaron in haziest out of curiosity? I'm a bit on the fence about it. Cabomake my mind up if I like it or not.
